Brutal attack on Republican fundraiser appears politically motivated

Last Friday night, Allee Bautsch, the chief fundraiser for Louisiana's Republican Gov. Bobby Jindal, was violently assaulted, along with her boyfriend, outside of a famed New Orleans restaurant. Initial reports on the incident were murky, but Yahoo! News has learned that the attacks appear to have been politically motivated.

Interesting yet not at all surprising. While Tea Partiers and Republicans are painted as the aggressors and rabble rousers while some Liberals are playing their ever present victim cards... people get hurt. I wonder if anyone will be sending this to janet napolitano and if she'll be adding some more language to the National Alerts about right-wing extremists. Allee Bautsch sounds like a subversive to me --- raising money for Republicans. She got what she deserved - amirite or amirite my Progressive friends... ?

He would agree that the First Amendment cannot be absolute.” - Chuck Schumer (D). Yet, Madison and Mason wrote the Bill of Rights, according to Sheila Jackson Lee, 400 years ago. Yup, it's a fact.

Re: Brutal attack on Republican fundraiser appears politically motivated

"Though the nature of the attack has remained a bit of a mystery, some conservative blogs reported that Bautsch and Brown might have been targeted because they were wearing lapel pins expressing support for Sarah Palin. The former Alaska governor gave an address at the Leadership Conference that same day — but a Jindal spokesperson has since denied that either Bautsch or Brown was wearing a Palin pin."

Conservative blogs made crap up!! Who'd a thunk it?

"Update: This post initially didn't note that NOPD Public Information Officer Bob Young back-tracked on his initial repeated characterization of the attacks "as politically motivated" to say he "wasn't sure." We've added copy to make that clear. We will have more reporting on this later today.
Update: Bob Young, though confirming that the question of political motivation is a part of the investigation, has now reiterated his denial that he said the attacks were of a "political nature" to Politico's Ben Smith."

Looks like we still really don't know. But please keep trying.

If anyone finds any proof that this was politically motivated, fine, use it as a talking point all you want, the left would do the same if this happened. But lets at least stop guessing.

Til then, throw the bastards that did this in jail and make sure they get what's coming to them.

You make yourself look silly by using this talking point, knowing full well the report was initiated under the Bush admin.

And you talk about liberals playing the victim card, sheesh.

Well we can't let you have a monopoly on it now can we. And yes, I'm a bit ashamed at stealing the liberals card. My apologies.

“It should be noted that other than making reference to the victims being nicely dressed, along with other observations about their physical appearance, Mr. Brown did not hear them make any other comments.” — Police Report On Allee Bautsch Incident, 4/12/10

Excerpted from “New Orleans Police: No Evidence Of Political Motivation In Attack On Jindal Aide” By Justin Elliott, TPM LiveWire, April 16, 2010, 4:32PM
The initial claim -- since definitively shot down by Jindal's office -- was that Bautsch, whose leg was broken in the attack, and boyfriend Joe Brown were wearing Palin pins, thus becoming targets of the angry leftists.

Then, a conservative blogger's assertion that the police had described the assailants' insults as "of a political nature" -- a claim picked up by Fox and Yahoo News -- was flatly denied by a police spokesman.
Shocking! You just can't believe everything you read on the Internet.

Excerpted from “GOP victim unsure if violent attack was political” By the Associated Press, WDAM, April 16, 2010 1:44 PM ET
According to a police report obtained by The Associated Press on Friday, the 29-year-old Brown said a group of men yelled obscenities and taunted them, but he heard nothing suggesting the attack was politically motivated. …

I am very sad to hear about what happened. I hope those responsible are captured and jailed for life.

As to Jindal ... he's a big business-owned sellout who needs to be banned from politics.

This story is baffling. Gov Jindahl to my knowledge has not made any statement about one of his own being injured.

Why would someone just beat up two basically unknown public figures that severe? Of course many are already making allegations that these were liberal thugs. Some even came out and said it was because they were wearing Palin buttons but that had to be taken back.

Something just doesn't add up here. In this day of video camera overload it is too bad it wasn't caught on cam.
