Obama & Co. Want National Biometric ID

But how would that happen? Will this card transmit a signal to a satellite or something? No. It will simply match you when you present it the way you do now to get a job or whatever, like having your picture on a card would. Big deal.

If they install RFID, I can steal all your personal information without taking it out of your pocket.

Nope, no can do. I was against a national ID under Bush. My position remains the same. I doubt they'll make them fire proof.

So how's all that hope and change workin out for ya?

Personally, I have no problem with this. The Social Security cards are out-of-date and can easily be forged. It's a point of verification, not a method to "track" your every movement. Once the national ID cards carry GPS transmitters, then we can start worrying about Big Brother....

Winston loved big brother

.... and then people wonder why nobody takes Libertarians and Tea Party supporters seriously. It is like one big Facebook group for conspiracy theorists.

The same groups claimed that social security numbers would be used for keeping track of people. Your side assured everyone that social security numbers were only for claiming social security benefits and would never be used for ID. For a long time even the back of the card said it couldn't be used as ID.

Now try and do anything without your SS number.

Seems the conspiracy theorists were correct. Not all trends are fictitious.

really-given the amount of airtime and ink the left wingers-media and politicians spend trying to demonize the tea party movement I think you are absolutely wrong

The parasite class and those who pander to them see the Taxed Enough Already movement as a serious threat to the gravy train that the left uses to buy elections and create more and more slothful dependency addicted parasites

Those who ignore history are doomed to look silly when historical facts "Pelosi-slap" their nonsense.

its like the clowns who claim we are paranoid to think gun registration would lead to confiscation. I heard the same BS in London about 15 years ago

Exactly. I have a TWIC card in order to get into the plants around here that my company does work for. It has a little chip in it with my fingerprints and a photo of me, and when I signed up for it they did a background check on me for a criminal record or terrorist associations. Every time I go to the plant they swipe it to ensure it's me.

And yet, they haven't rounded me up and locked me in a cage....

If someone dupes your biometric card and does something bad with it, you can't change any of your biometrics.
You're stuck with the possibility of being screwed over again.

And how is that any different than if they dupe your regular ID? Biometric cards are much harder to dupe.

People need to be kept track of. Can you imagine if theree were no record of anyone in this country? In a civilized nation it is a necessity to have accurate identification of it's citizens. Biometrics ID is a great way to accomplish that.
I can't believe how paranoid people get.

If they have RFID installed, I can steal you info 100x easier.
Even if it's encrypted, it will be broken and a homemade RFID is very easy to come by.

My ID I have not is just fine, they don't need my biometric data.

Are they planning on installing RFID?
From what I have heard they will be the same as what legal immigrants get. A picture ID with fingerprints and a bar code that can be scanned to verify the authenticity of the card. Kind of like the new passports. It is a good idea and might help solve our illegal immigration problem. I think most are making a bigger deal than it is, probably because Obama wants it.

Worker Biometric ID Under Consideration in US: Senators Charles Schumer and Lindsey Graham have proposed a new national identity card. The Senators would require that "all U.S. citizens and legal immigrants who want jobs" obtain a "high-tech, fraud-proof Social Security card" with a unique biometric identifier. The card, they say, would not contain private information, medical information, or tracking techniques, and the biometric identifiers would not be stored in a government database. EPIC has testified in Congress and commented to federal agencies on the privacy and security risks associated with national identification systems and biometric identifiers. For more information, see EPIC: National ID and the REAL ID Act, EPIC: Biometric Identifiers, and the Privacy Coalition’s Campaign Against REAL ID. (Mar. 24, 2010)

You guys can stop being so paranoid.
THIS IS A GREAT IDEA.

I would not be to quick to write off the Tea Party candidates if I were you.......You remember how the left underestimated Reagan in 1980........

Bonzo could have beaten Carter in '80 and he was underestimated by the right in '76.

... way more practical and cost effective than a Rio Grande spanning fence. And less offensive too.

Well you should of run Bonzo...........

In place of Reagan? Great idea. He would have beaten Carter and done a better job than Reagan.

I liked it better when you had me on your ignore list.

They already put RFID in U.S. passports, whats to stop them from requiring this additional requirement?

Those can duped those as well, they don't need my fingerprint and the reasons for the supposed necessity won't be changed.

Illegals will still come over the boarder, people will still employ them under the table and we are back at square one, except this time we spent a ton of money on fancy ID cards that don't do what they are supposed to do.

Woo hoo!! Wasted money, time and effort.
Time to hang your "mission accomplished" banner on the SS Minnow.

I'm not paranoid, I'm wise to the fact that these fixes don't change anything except make things more expensive for no reason.

So what happens when I create a phony ID card with a false name, my fingerprint and bar code that matches?

I just beat the system.

That sounds a lot harder than making a fake social security card.

I'm more than sure that the drug cartels over the border have the funds to get into the business, that's not even counting the people who do it over here.

But lets forget about that part, what do you do to the people who employ illegal immigrants under the table?
They don't need any ID in the first place.

But it's alot harder to create one like that. You need special equipment, and the knowledge to code the chip to validate it. So that cuts out lots of counterfeiting right there.
