Depends where you live. In 56 years I have never lost a wallet, however I have had my car broken into a couple times. Just don't come back crying if your identity is stolen. Hint: The first place thieves look is in the ashtray.

My ID only has my name and mailing address, in that event I'm more than sure I won't have to worry.

Now if it had critical information, like my fingerprint that can be scanned or a bar code with more sensitive information, I'd be worried.

It's your drivers license right? There might be more on it than you think. An identity thief would just love to have it.
Where do you keep your credit cards? I hope it's not in the ashtray too. Or are you a cash only kind of guy?

Finger prints on an ID make it more secure and harder to fake. The bar code is to determine if the card is authentic or was reported stolen. The bar code is not there to hold more information. Another good security feature. Believe it or not biometric IDs will make it more difficult for identity thieves and will make it harder for illegals to get jobs and stay in this country. Both good things. If you don't like it, don't carry it. Leave it in your ashtray.

It won't do anything to solve illegal immigrants in the country.

There is a whole underground economy designed for people without documents.
Even now when police catch someone who is driving without insurance or a state license they can't do anything to them except let them go after a short stay in jail.

Employers who want them will still use them because they don't require ID's for employment.
Businesses cater to them, allowing them to open bank accounts without SSN's and state ID's.

It won't do anything to stop the flow into the country.
They don't really bother me anyway.

Actually, if you own a cell phone, the government already has, not only the ability to track your every move, but to listen in on your conversations, if they decide to do so, even with the phone turned off. The only way to circumvent it is to remove the batteries.

You are too funny... For the government to tap a phone, they need a warrant. But this can be circumvented with the Patriot Act. Now for phones that are off, once you power them down, they are down. There is no such thing of the mic still running when the phone is off. That's like saying my computer is sending information when the computer is off, rubbish. Sure phones can be activated remotely,IF its firmware allows remote startup just like wake-up lan on most computers. And even then, the phone will be turned on when you didn't turn them on, so that would raise a red flag even if they somehow got to this point.

And onto the whole RFID business, they are reference data. And if it's done correctly, SSN can be stored on it. Who care if they can read your SSN, they need the biometric data to authenticate the SSN that goes with that card. It's a double security system that some companies use with the setup of a RFID card and a pin or a biometric scan. Heck, some use all 3, RFID card, pin number, then a retinal, or fingerprint scanner. RFID is impractical to be used as a pinpoint accuracy tracker, first you need to install readers possibly at choke-points where people have to go through, but those can be easily circumvented if someone really wants to hide. And it's like a package, it can only tell you are in the region, not pinpoint your exact location.

Yes, I know, it's why I'm a paranoid loon now. My bunker is almost done.

Warrant! Hahahahaha! What a naive kid.

Okay, seriously, the fact is that Bush violated a law that required warrants for wiretaps, but the Patriot Act didn't make it legal or allow anyone to circumvent that law. The Patriot Act had little to do with wiretaps. Its the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act that governs this, and it was in place when Bush did his illegal wiretaps.

The republicans want cheap labor ... and they need to be told no and then be kicked in the ass for taking the bread out of the mouth of every American.

    Can't agree more.

It's odd that in red states, in overwhelmingly red districts, that illegals and their employers go untouched.
