Obama & Co. Want National Biometric ID

I'm not paranoid, I'm wise to the fact that these fixes don't change anything except make things more expensive for no reason.

So what happens when I create a phony ID card with a false name, my fingerprint and bar code that matches?

I just beat the system.

I have seen the biometric ID cards of immigrants. You could not fake it and a scan of the barcode would reveal it as a fake or if was reported stolen.
The national ID program would help solve the illegal immigration problem. That is the reason for them. It is a great Idea and they could be issued at DMV stations. That's where regular IDs are issued. Added cost would be minimal.

But it's alot harder to create one like that. You need special equipment, and the knowledge to code the chip to validate it. So that cuts out lots of counterfeiting right there.

So please explain how that will stop illegal immigrants who work under the table?

This is supposed to be a stop for people using stolen information for employment.
It isn't going to do anything and after the procedures for faking documents are normalized we are back at square one again.

How does it stop those who work under the table and the employers that want those people?

That is the majority of illegal workers that I have encountered.

Are they planning on installing RFID?
From what I have heard they will be the same as what legal immigrants get. A picture ID with fingerprints and a bar code that can be scanned to verify the authenticity of the card. Kind of like the new passports. It is a good idea and might help solve our illegal immigration problem. I think most are making a bigger deal than it is, probably because Obama wants it.

Where they planning national biometric cards when they implemented the social security system?

If they were, they didn't tell the public.

I'll lay out my cards for this whole proposed bill.

I'm not against amnesty, those that want to become citizens will live to a similar American standard.
They are just fine in my book.

With that said, I am against a guest worker program.
That is just a way for the government to subsidize businesses to allow them to go around the fair market value of local employment.
Want to see low income people have their wages dropped, agree with this.

I am against Real ID 2, it's unnecessary.
There is no problem it addresses.

You really believe that? IDs that are almost impossible to fake address many problems. Fake IDs are a huge problem in this country.

For who?

I almost never have to use mine, I don't even carry a wallet plus if they really want something to prove who I am, I can get a passport which is of higher authority than a standard ID.

You don't drive?

Personally, I have no problem with this. The Social Security cards are out-of-date and can easily be forged. It's a point of verification, not a method to "track" your every movement. Once the national ID cards carry GPS transmitters, then we can start worrying about Big Brother....

It may not be the intentions of the powers that be, but it opens the door for some other asshole down the line to do that very thing.

You are not the only person in this country.

My license stays in the ashtray of my car.
That's all I need it for.

Yeah, that secure ashtray is a great place to store your ID. No wonder identity theft is the problem it is.

You are not the only person in this country.

Of course, but my objections should not be discarded because others think I need to have it the way they want it.

We are supposed to share this place, not have one strong arm the other into compliance, especially when the little guy isn't doing anything wrong.

It's not about you.

Out here we're required to carry an ID at all times. It's a petty offense if you don't have one, but it's enough to let a cop take you in if he suspects something else is going on.

Also, if you ever have to show your ID, chances are the cop isn't going to wait 60 days for it to be issued to you. In fact, when you need to have an ID you probably have about 30 seconds to present it.

Wow, that's pretty freaking stupid if you ask me.

It's closed and my doors are locked.

The chance of me losing a wallet is higher than someone breaking into my car.

Depends where you live. In 56 years I have never lost a wallet, however I have had my car broken into a couple times. Just don't come back crying if your identity is stolen. Hint: The first place thieves look is in the ashtray.

My ID only has my name and mailing address, in that event I'm more than sure I won't have to worry.

Now if it had critical information, like my fingerprint that can be scanned or a bar code with more sensitive information, I'd be worried.

It's your drivers license right? There might be more on it than you think. An identity thief would just love to have it.
Where do you keep your credit cards? I hope it's not in the ashtray too. Or are you a cash only kind of guy?

Finger prints on an ID make it more secure and harder to fake. The bar code is to determine if the card is authentic or was reported stolen. The bar code is not there to hold more information. Another good security feature. Believe it or not biometric IDs will make it more difficult for identity thieves and will make it harder for illegals to get jobs and stay in this country. Both good things. If you don't like it, don't carry it. Leave it in your ashtray.

It won't do anything to solve illegal immigrants in the country.

There is a whole underground economy designed for people without documents.
Even now when police catch someone who is driving without insurance or a state license they can't do anything to them except let them go after a short stay in jail.

Employers who want them will still use them because they don't require ID's for employment.
Businesses cater to them, allowing them to open bank accounts without SSN's and state ID's.

It won't do anything to stop the flow into the country.
They don't really bother me anyway.

Oh, but it does. A satellite will track your every move so you can be transported to a FEMA camp to await a death panel.

Actually, if you own a cell phone, the government already has, not only the ability to track your every move, but to listen in on your conversations, if they decide to do so, even with the phone turned off. The only way to circumvent it is to remove the batteries.
