    Mccain denounces his Maverick persona

John McCain, Maverick No More - Washington Wire - WSJ

Of all the things he flip flopped on over time, This is one he just can't get away with.

I actually had a lot of respect for him before the '08 election. Since then, he's been selling out more and more to the paleo-conservative base in the GOP. It's a shame.

He's denouncing it only because it didn't buy him the Presidency.

McCain sold out his integrity when he started pandering to the radical right in order to secure the GOP nomination.

Indeed, He's changed his views on a lot of things. A while back he was open to a lot of ideas that he completely denounces now (such as: Don't ask, Don't tell, Spreading the wealth around, etc...). Guess all the crazy neo-cons got to him.

At least he has the power to realize he f'ed up and take blame. Now if only Obama, Biden, and Pelosi can pull a collective "oops, my bad" on the health care debacle.

As rare as humility is for Republicans, it's non-existent for Democrats.

What was he thinking? "Maverick" is practically his call sign. How tragic that this man will literally do anything to get re-elected.

This is the important stuff. We canít get lost in discrimination. We canít get lost in B.S. We canít get lost tearing each other down. I want to make a point here that no matter what you look like, where you come from, how you worship, who you love, how you identify, and yeah, how you run, that if you have good public policy ideas, if you are well qualified for office, bring those ideas to the table, because this is your America, too. This is our commonwealth of Virginia, too.

How does denying he ever considered himself a Maverick relate to anything you just said?

Yeah, It's such a shame that moderate Republicans almost have no place within their own party now-a-days because all thte rhetoric coming from the far right loons.

Because he never did. He said it once with Palin, and she was the one who incessantly invoked the word "maverick". If you think the word is associated mostly with McCain, you're suffering from selective amnesia.
