You mean like William Kristol and Robert Kagan who stood with him till the end? Yeah, neoconservatives, who generally love McCain and Lieberman are making McCain go anti-McCain.

Another liberal who does not even know what a neocon is.

McCain mostly let others label him, true. However, the Maverick label has been around McCain far longer than 2005-2009.

    Oh the irony.

Old John is long past his prime. He needs to retire gracefully, if he can.

    Three points.

    1. McCain's second autobiography is called Worth the Fighting For: The Education of an American Maverick. That came out in 2003. So, the maverick thing is not new.

    2. In spite of endorsing it and making use of it on a multiple ocassions, he has been ambivalent about the term.

    3. Who cares?
If you notice something good in yourself, give credit to God, not to yourself, but be certain the evil you commit is always your own and yours to acknowledge.

I don't believe that is possible. He's flip-flopped on so many issues and this latest just flies in the face of all credibility.

Its actually kinda sad that a moderate in the Republican party has to cater so far to the right-wing to get the party's nomination.

When you can not be elected on who you are, its time to call it a career. McCain had been know as someone that stood for something, now he is compromising his legacy of integrity. This is like Willie Mays playing one year too long. If he must get this pathetic, its time to hang it up.
