Leaked footage from Apache showing "US military slaughter" in Baghdad

ahh, so I would like to see those calling those US soldies murderes step up now and do the right thing. ;)
Sorry but you won't get that from me based on Gates' apologetics when we have video and audio.

It was a rhetorical question. I have no faith that you would step up and do the right thing. It's an hono thing you wouldnt understand.

Is there no possible way for said video and audio (which I have not seen/heard, btw) to be interpreted in such a way that you would support the soldiers actions?

Or at the least, give them the benefit of the doubt, that they, under the combat conditions in place at the time, made a decision they thought fit within the boundaries they were given?

Or have you already decided they purposefully attacked something which they should not have?

No, they decided it was more combatants and fired. What did they base that decision on? Nothing. Watch the video again.
An unmarked van picking up insurgents and weapons in a combat situation. Those were the criteria they made their decision on. And it was the correct decision to make.

BTW, since when do we target the unarmed and wounded? There were no weapons visible in or near the van nor on the people who exited the van. It was a bad engagement.
You target insurgents and any unmarked veichles involving themselves in the fight. It becomes a valid target when the driver decided to render aid to the enemy.

The Apache is there to provide support and protection for ground troops. It does that by engaging insurgents from a distance so that the troops don't have to.
The more you kill, the less the ground troops have to expose themselves to. As a wise Sargent once told me, the definition of a fair fight is one where the other guy is outnumberd out gunned and has nowhere to run. One should always try to make sure its a fair fight....

We always said, "only losers and liars fight fairly".

I served in Nam so don't bother talking to me like I don't understand combat engagement. Go watch the video.

An unmarked van, in a city... imagine that.

According to the footage. The combat had ceased for several minutes and there was a badly wounded person attempting to crawl away. A van with some locals probably thought it was safe to go help the man before he died. They were begging for the guy to pick up a weapon so they could finish him off. He was obviously badly wounded and it's extremely doubtful that someone in that condition would be looking to grab a weapon. It's OBVIOUS that he was horribly wounded and was probably in shock already and just blindly trying to crawl away. Let's not forget that it's clear from the video that there aren't even any weapons around for him to pick up.

There are rules of engagement and this isn't the jungle, it's a city street where civilians live and work.

Let's not loose sight of the fact that I agreed with the original action. It's the firing on that van, which turned out to be non-combatants who had children with them, they were probably just driving by when the shooting started and once the shooting was over they wanted to help a badly wounded person, that I have a disagreement with.

I could have done with out seeing this. Tell me it's fake, please.

Nope very real. Sorry war sucks. The people in the world trade center weren't in a war zone, weren't embedded with terrorists, weren't armed and they perished. Where is the outrage for your own fellow citizens? I am appaled that you don't post footage of 9-11 and speak of all the TRUELY innocent people that were killed there. To what country is your allegiance?

Are you one of those that still thinks Iraq had something to do with 9/11?

Did those people have something to do with 911?? Two camera men, reporting on the war. Is everybody guilty?? I support America, but do not support killing of unarmed people in their own town.

And the people in the WTC were armed? Did you watch the video at all? I saw AT LEAST one Ak-47 and one possible RPG. Walk around with people like that you might get your head blown off. Cry me a river.

I don't give a damn whether 9-11 and Iraq were connected. We should have taken Saddam out years ago. Hint to the libs: Shooting at American fighter jets is an act of war. THIS IS WHAT SEPARATES SADDAM FROM EVERY OTHER BRUTAL DICTATOR. Saddam shot at them for 12 years. Google it. I don't care if Bush said Saddam made green cheese and we didn't find any. They performed acts of war on a daily basis. No, Saddam needed to go. He killed 5000 of his own people with gas. If you don't think the Iraq war was justified then yes, I consider you pro-saddam. You are either pro-America, or pro-Saddam, pick a side, libs. I know it's something you don't like to do because that way you can ALWAYS weasel your way out if something goes wrong. Case in point, the Iraq war. Dozens of libs supported it, but when the SHTF, they suddenly try to back away. Unfortunately the internet is an ugly thing and liberal quotes about Saddam's threat to the US came back to haunt them. I say the Iraq war is what made the libs pretty much irrelevant. It showed they were the spineless cowards we always thought they were. And so no one goes running to the mods, I don't mean the libs on this board, I mean the ones in Washington.

The Iraq war will cost over trillion dollars, thousands of American lives and we will have gained nothing. True conservatives admit it was a huge mistake.
Spreading democracy and nation building are liberal ideals.

For the life of me I don't recall ever supporting "spreading Democracy or nation building." I do remember vividly, however, supporting the removal of Saddam. Saying the Iraq war was a huge mistake is painting with way too broad of a brush. If you consider the actual war part, no not at all anything close to a mistake. All the bull**** after....not sure.

If a little girls dad tries to break into my friends house (Kuwait) and gets killed (GW2) it's not my job to find her another daddy. I say we should have gone in, toppled Saddam and his cronies, and gotten out. I am ABSOLUTELY AGAINST nation building. I guess it was worth the shot but it didn't work so lets leave what we need to for security in the region and get the rest out. If they screw with us again they'll get pounded back a few more years into the stone age.

Afghanistan is a different deal altogether because that's where the terrorists are coming from. We HAVE to stay there, unfortunately.

When did Iraq mess with America?

When they Nationalized their oil and kicked big oil out of Iraq.

Our free market beliefs stop at our borders when it comes to our foreign policy.

Has there ever been any proof confirming the existence of rape rooms? Confirming the existence of WMDs? A lot of that stuff was made up to bolster support for the invasion.

Nothing like media bias proudly displayed in the HEADLINE...

Usually we have to at least look at the video or article.. this time we know it's progressive journalist trash before we go there!

FINALLY... a LITTLE honesty in journalism!:doh

Carry on KEYBOARD GENERALS!
