Leaked footage from Apache showing "US military slaughter" in Baghdad

I am reminded of a phrase commonly used back in the Nam. "Study long, study wrong."

I think it's GREAT to see these clips of war footage leaking out so people can see, up close and personal, the perils of war.

We have so many arm-chair generals and war mongerer's relaxing, with beer in hand, watching FOXNews, as they push for more war. I would imagine that most of them have no dog in the fight therefore have no objection to war as others lose their son's and daughters in the fight.

One thing, for sure, after watching several of these clips, I know our troops are valiant, brave and some deadly son's a bitches. Cream of the crop. I couldn't be prouder of them.

You need to get your eyes checked out. I saw an RPG.

And if im the one that is mistaken, i sure as hell cant blame them for thinking it is.

Anyway, in the KNOWN presence of an Apache (might i add) they did very little to illicit behavior that wouldn't have been conceived as suspicious and they did everything in there power to look like the Taliban IMO.

Forget the fact they where walking down the road armed to the teeth, how about the suspicious "corner checking" that little Iraqi watchman was doing? I sure as hell would have shot the s-hit out of them.

Well you are right I do need to get my eyes checked. I couldn't see the RPG or the guy watching the corner. I cannot argue against an SAS member, and I won't either. I'm just saying I didn't see the RPG.....

I like killing machines too, buts its just the style of American fighting forces that makes it pretty cowardly you know fight from the sky because the other nation has no SAM or air force to fight against our air power. This has resulted in the deaths of innocent civilians which were common during the Serb-Kosovo war. And it seems to be pretty common here in Iraq. The worse part is that the majority of the people and military just brush it off as "collateral" damage.
And I hate hearing some of your opinions, maybe you don't think "collateral" damage is so bad maybe just think for a second a much more powerful military that does that you one of your brothers, sisters, sons, or father and then tell me how "collateral" damage feels...

Watch the video again.

Do you at least accept that walking down the road armed to the teeth as an "innocent" civilian is stupid and irresponsible if you think it wont illicit a respone (apache bullet holes in your head for starters)?

Sorry, but AK47's are guns that only people with contacts can get by. In Iraq, civilians cannot carry guns, do not carry guns, and should not carry guns. Thats not to say a lot dont have them, but they wont walk down the street with them.

You call it coward, I call it smart. VERY smart.

These other piss-ant country's should know better than to bring a sword to a gunfight. Rattle the big-dog's cage and you're gonna get yo' ass bit!

In regards to collateral damage, I wish the unavoidable could be avoided. I agree that we have become rather de-sensetized here in the US. It will be a while before the images of our own brothers, sisters, sons, or fathers, burning bodies falling from high-rise buildings erases from our minds. Granted, I never felt that Iraq played much a hand in 911, but it still leaves one with a "WTF" attitude towards middle easterner's. I truly could care less about any of them.

Perhaps then, we will fight a more "dignified" fight. Maybe learn how to plant I.E.D.'s or something else "honorable" like that. [/sarcasm]

No. If we have to go to combat, expect NO mercy. **** the world. I'm sick of it. To me, if it ain't American, it don't mean ****.

That's why I'm Captain America. NOT Captain Iraq.

Unfortunately gathering from the first page and all the mindless "thanks" being swung back and forth it seems people have no idea whats going on because of the video and in the video. 2 well known journalists were killed because they mistook their cameras for Ak47s, however they were strolling down the street with a guy with an RPG.

Apparently from what I've heard (I haven't the time to read the whole thread) there was a coverup in which US military leaders stated that US forces were under unmistakeable attack in this scenario. This video is an exposition of this coverup of the situation.

Unfortunate, it is hard to blame the service-members they saw a man with an RPG and opened fire. How they mistook cameras for AKs I don't know, they dont look anything like AKs in this video. I have always wanted to be a reporter in a warzone and that at its deepest may include being embedded with the other side. The journalists killed deserve award for their sacrifice. ( I believe there may be one).

If I cam under fire like that and survived long enough to make it down the street I wouldv'e held my camera up or swung it in the air, made any signal that I was a friendly.

Unfortunate is all I have to say, such is war, especially a war like this one.

Im subscribed to the thread now and will converse once I have time to read more.

We should have never invaded Iraq.

And note some of the reasons given by posters is that they where "moving out" and it looked like they where headed towards a position.. probably to the ground troops location they say. Well when someone has a weapon and closing the distance do they walk casually with their weapons slung over their shoulder or in aiming position at a fast pace?

Several men had weapons near a firefight and were acting suspiciously. What else is one to expect the men to do? War is a chaotic business. Mistakes are inevitable in life, but in war they carry a far more tragic weight.

The Apache murder was bad, but this was/is worse. Its a report on a female that "committed suicide" and the US military covered it up. I guess the US military likes to coverup murder with either "collateral damage," or "suicide". Anyways their should be more outrage because the military covered this up and it gets little attention to the apache video.

I watched it again, and you've probably haven't watched the combat zone episode on the military channel? It was about GB's who landed in blackhawks behind enemy lines in Iraq during the first Gulf War. They laid in a trench that was made from the outpour of water. Anyways, they were in this trench and they were spotted first by children, two girls and a boy who were playing football. The children didn't say anything to the adults, but when they were spotted by the male shepherd the male shepherd ran back and fired his handgun in the air. So now they were screwed and would have to engage the enemy.
What is the moral of the story? Arab men are typically "stupid". They do not follow the rules because arrogance is a part of the male psyche in Iraq. I do not believe that just because two had AK-47s means that they all had AK-47s and that you did acknowledge that contacts have AK-47s I believe it would be fair to assume that since that guy was a reporter he knew people with contacts.

We should have never invaded Iraq.

Any one with some sense can look at a map of it and those borders and tell its a good idea for the US to have influence in that area regardless of the many other reasons/excuses that accumulated over the years.

I want to say I was wrong. Seriously.
You know what convinced me? A right-wing God-lovin dude that saw it for what it is. Please watch a right wing Christian in action: [nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqOAwcLXyTc&playnext_from=TL&videos=cDg310AGnHo&feature=sub"]YouTube- US MILITARY kills unarmed REUTERS reporters - WIKI LEAKS video footage[/nomedia]

What we did was wrong.

cowardly eh? So tell me warrior, when was the last time you wielded a loin cloth and a gladius to do battle like a man?

So you would point the unidentified object that could look like a weapon at the attacking aircraft?

Personally I would suggest otherwise...

If the journalists were walking down the street with someone unauthorized to have an RPG, I feel no sympathy for them.

;) its the best information aside from being in the spec ops. the other armed forces don't matter:doh

My point is, war is not about fairness. It's about killing the enemy and destroyin thier stuff until thier will to fight is no more.

Are you suggesting we uise IED's and suicide bombers instead of spectres and apaches?

Its a rather obtuse suggestion if I must say.

The point of this post? What has this changed?

They weren't fired on, they just imagined seeing weapons and got clearance to fire based on that fiction. We shouldn't have had gunships operating in an urban area in the first place.
