The Republican National Committee sent a fundraising mail piece earlier this month with a return number that leads to a phone-sex line offering "live, one-on-one talk with a nasty girl who will do anything you want for just $2.99 per minute."

At the bottom of a piece designed to resemble a census form, a toll-free number is listed next to the national party's address.

A voter in Minnesota received the mailer and called the number intending to complain about the attempt to raise money with a form that looks like a government document.

But the Minnesotan was instead directed to a second toll-free number that greets callers as "sexy guy" before offering them the chance to talk with "real local students, housewives and working girls from all over the country."

The individual then forwarded the mail piece to the voter's congressman, a Democrat, who shared it with the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

A spokesman for the RNC declined to say how many copies of the census-style mailer were sent out. …

You might think this is a joke for April Fools, but, really folks, no foolin' the RNC really did this. Coming on the heels of the $2,000 credit card expenditure at a West Hollywood female bondage destination, one can only wonder if indeed those RNC folks have their minds on their work or elsewhere, far, far away.

A low-level staffer was fired Tuesday when it was discovered she was behind a nearly $2,000 charge for a night at a Los Angeles "bondage-themed" bar. Problems got worse Thursday after reports came out that an RNC fundraising mailer listed the number for a phone-sex line.

I think it is the third or fourth time. I know it has happened at least twice before to some group, since I remember thinking "again?" when I heard of some one doing it awhile ago.

Edited to add: and this is the third or fourth thread started on it today.

You are right. How dare they besmirch Hillary, when there are Bill O'Reilly and Bill Clinton (together known as Bill O'Clinton) to besmirch.

O'Reilly can do the phone sex, and Clinton can hand out the cigars. :mrgreen:

Hell the money might be better used going to the sex line number than RNC. Also I hope this isn't an April Fools Day story because I would be sad.
