I wonder how they like their socialist Medicare.

The question is, will that number grow, will the salience rise, and will repeal become an inexorable political dynamic?

It will if I can help it.

So Obama's healthcare bill is socialist, but Medicare is not!?

NP, sorry man, I've pointed this out before but I have to do it again. You do not know what that word means.

On the contrary, why people do not like this Bill is because they fail to follow what will inevitably happen come 2014.
There is no Insurance company in the entire world that will permit a Policy to be sold without controlling the eventual costs.

Ie: A family buys an Insurance Policy with a $2,000,000 maximum lifetime care on it.
Someone within that family has a catastrophic illness/accident, where the health costs rise above the $2,000,000 mark.
The Insurance company says sorry and refers back to the Policy which is a contract.

Under Obama's plan the above will no longer be permitted, further no one can be denied an Insurance Policy.

What Obama will have, in effect done is a Government takeover of the Healthcare Insurance Industry (as the Government will be the only body that can underwrite unlimited costs).
Thus under the Bill that has just been passed the 'Public Option' is included.
However, I doubt very much that most people will understand that.
What they will see are the various 'goodies' within the Bill, and the Democrats under their chief Obama will incessantly publicize these from now until November.
Unfortunately the majority of the electorate see the 'goodies' but are too stupid to realize that even candy comes at a price.

I was certainly aware of the 500 billion in "cuts," although calling them that is disingenuous. You must be confusing me with someone else.

Your definition of socialism seems to be "people getting something they didn't pay for." That isn't correct.

55% Favor Repeal of Health Care Bill - Rasmussen Reports

    March 25 2010

Just before the House of Representatives passed sweeping health care legislation last Sunday, 41% of voters nationwide favored the legislation while 54% were opposed. Now that President Obama has signed the legislation into law, most voters want to see it repealed.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey, conducted on the first two nights after the president signed the bill, shows that 55% favor repealing the legislation. Forty-two percent (42%) oppose repeal. Those figures include 46% who Strongly Favor repeal and 35% who Strongly Oppose it.

In terms of Election 2010, 52% say they’d vote for a candidate who favors repeal over one who does not. Forty-one percent (41%) would cast their vote for someone who opposes repeal.

Not surprisingly, Republicans overwhelmingly favor repeal while most Democrats are opposed. Among those not affiliated with either major party, 59% favor repeal, and 35% are against it.

Most senior citizens (59%) also favor repeal. Earlier, voters over 65 had been more opposed to the health care plan than younger adults. Seniors use the health care system more than anyone else
So, when did we change from a republic to a democracy, NP?
