The news is, they're now confessing it publicly and proudly. Way to go, GOP.

It's actually unfortunate, because our country works best when the parties serve as a check/balance on one another. The Republican party is not well-served by framing itself as the party of obstructionism. And, subsequently, neither are we.

Neither party is good at this point and neither serve as a check on the other. It's a broken system. The Republicans just have to sit on their asses and bitch right now and just wait till they get majority power back. At which point the Democrats can sit on their asses and bitch and just wait till they get majority power back....

I suspect he's just covering his butt here in regards to immigration reform, which is next on Congress's agenda.

But all this tallk of him "not doing his job" and "not representing his state" is stupid. He's up for re-election and will almost certainly win, and this statement probably won't have hurt him at all. Believe it or not, Congressmen don't have to vote "yes" on everything, and are completely allowed to vote "no" on everything if they want to. If their constitutents don't want that, they can vote that Congressman out. In McCain's case, they won't, probably because Arizona voters are just as disgusted with the Democrats after the whole health care shenanigans as McCain claims to be.

EDIT: He may be covering his butt on cap and trade as well, which he also supports.

Not that different from 2006-2007 under Bush, either, for that matter.

I wish the adults in this country would grow the **** up.

Neither party is worth a barrel of crap.

Sounds good to me. The less government "helps" us, the better IMO.

In general, yes. But in times when the government should be doing something it's annoying. Furthermore, since both parties isolate themselves from the People, they can then work for only their pocket book. Sitting around and being obstructionist is only to give talking points and propaganda. But they still pass laws which usually benefit the aristocracy at the cost of the People.

And what about the rules of Congress? Shouldn't a member of Congress who outright refuses to engage in the business of Congress be kicked to the curb?

I am reminded when John McCain decided to quit his campaign to run to Washington and fix the economy, because "the fundamentals of America’s economy are strong." Quitting seems to be a theme with Mr. McCain and his Republican colleagues.

Jesus. Can you imagine this whiny, temper-tantrum-throwing, do-nothing pinhead as POTUS?
Go McCain!!!! The longer the Republicans can stall this monstrous bill from taking effect, the more support they will garner. I hope they do anything they can to challenge, block, sabotage, and poison any efforts on moving this legislation any further.
