Beck suggests Obama administration "coming after him" and may kill him

And that's why people are always laughing at you, like Beck. Ever notice that?

That laughter are the voices in your head...
(psst there's no sound on this forum) HAAAAAWWWWWW!

Moderator's Warning:
OK, some infractions have been handed out. The personal attacks need to stop, now.

Maybe they are... Maybe they ain't. The world won't ever know cuz either way he'll die from a headbump, overdose, heartattack.

So does Obama have communists on his political family or is Beck just a straight up liar about him being a communist?

I watched your two videos and they say nothing about Obama or his administration being violent. Also what does being a communist have to do with anything?

That's what this is all about?

That video.

My god, people just...wow. Blow my mind sometimes.

He equates someone saying what he is saying about social justice is a lie as "bearing false witness" to fit into his little rant. And you know, nothings more dead serious than "Holy Cow"! The tone of his voice was completely over the top.

Seriously, I don't care who this was, to take him literally here is just insane to me. He's routinely complained and bitched about how they're "Coming after" fox news and him, trying to silence people who oppose them, etc. His segment is talking about Jesus so he's trying to fit the 10 commandments into it to make it catchy, entertaining, and fit, and goes into hyperbole.

Huge surprise.

He's Beck, being Beck. Over the top, ridiculous in his hyperbole and alagory, mixing his commentary with his little bit of talent previously from comedy, and plucking peoples strings both on his side and against him rather well. Taking this SERIOUSLY requires one to either:

1. Hate Beck and think he's actually insane, not like "OMG, he thinks unlike me and disagree's with me and says inflamatory things" insane but literally, full out, actually insane

2. Buy into the over the top hype people are making up in regards to conservatives and how much they fear/hate Obama (such as the discredit Harris poll and the anti-christ trumpted up numbers)

This is like hearing someone go "I'm going to kill him when I he gets home" when a parent gets a call that their kid went to detention today and actually thinking they're LITERALLY going to kill their child.

Ridiculous

Well, yes.

Again, for a small number, yes. There are those who believe that stuff. They are also insane.

No it's not. I understand allegory, but this didn't sound like it at all.

I think it's just another attempt for Beck to claim he is being taken seriously by his political superiors.

After Glenn Beck uncovered the truth about Van Jones, which in turn resulted in Jones' removal from the White House, I think it's safe to say someone is taking him seriously. :applaud

Honestly though, I think the guy is insane or is an extremely good con man. I can't say I hate him though, but I am worried about his influence helping others lose touch with reality. I think this is partially because a very large number of people I interact with think this guy is absolutely correct in his analysis of politics. I see these otherwise good people becoming more radicalized and the miasma of it has even infected my church. I don't hate him, but I do fear his influence because otherwise good people are succumbing to irrational anger and fear of things that are simply not true. So anything I can do to help point out how offbase he is will hopefully do some good.

But see, here's your problem.

If you came in here starting a thread ridiculing him for using such over blown ridiculous hyperbole and rhetoric. Because, even when he's not serious, it simply fuels and embolden the fringe within his view base to do the ridiculous and atrocious acts that they do. Complaining about how ridiculous his "Jesus didn't practice Marxism" comment is based on the fact of which came first. Stating how making such outlandish exaggerations as the White House being out to kill him is irresponsible in the midst of the actions of the fringe of his view base recently. And other things like that I, and some other more reasonable conservatives, would probably be in here agreeing with you going "Yeah, that was rather stupid. I get he was trying to tie it in with the whole religious theme he was gong for, but that was a little much. This kind of political rhetoric is not helpful on either side".

Instead, you came at it from "Whoa boy, this guys crazy, he thinks Obama and Co are really going to kill him, people must be crazy to actually listen to this guy (based off the notion he's paranoid)". This immediately invites people into the thread simply to bash, trash, and bag on Beck and his viewers, even the more rational ones that don't take the hyperbole as serious suggestions like some of the fringe do or doesn't believe everything he says is gospel. This immediately moves the conversation AWAY from warning people "how off base" he is because YOU are then seeming offbase yourself in actually believing something like this is meant LITERALLY. If your TRUE intention was REALLY about convincing people he's off base you'd be focusing on people that are viewers of Beck, at least casually, and could be swayed. Those people aren't the ones likely to think "OMG He really thinks Obama is going to try to kill him!" because that's absolutely a silly and ridiculous notion to believe unless you're someone thats only real experience with Beck is Media Matters, blogs, YouTube clips, or internet forums

I could have done that, but that would not have been my honest impression from watching the clip.

I listen to beck every other day during lunch because FM radio does not work well in the town that I work in and the only stations i get are country or classical. I am the type who has to have some sort of background noise and I tend to forget my Ipod. So I am somewhat familiar with him, but whenever I listen to him, hes always going on about this sort of stuff. My honest impression of him is that he is either insane or he is a con man, so while it may have not been the best approach for me to post what I posted, so far I have not encountered much information that would lead me to believe anything different than what I said.

This may make me overly partisan, stupid, or whatever, I don't know, but as far as I can tell, this man seems to believe everything he says.

I would say you've got it right, but you just gambled on the far more unrealistic option.

Con Men are FAR more likely to succeed at business, manage to get a radio and TV show and multiple books, and that sort of thing than someone who is Legitimately insane.

But to a point I think most political commentators, and even many politicians and journalists, to a point could be considered Con men ;)

Very insightful. Perhaps you are correct. One issue I see is that I let my fear of his effect on people color my judgment. I will need to think about this.

Someone else talking about Obama thugs.

Generally it is a good idea to post things that have something to do with the thread.

What? This guy also suggests the Obama admin is comming after him. Im not going to start a whoooole new thread on it when this one is close enough.

Referring to the title of this thread.
Does this mean that the Obama administration will do something to be applauded by a large segment of America?

Beck suggests Obama administration "coming after him" and may kill him | Media Matters for America

I am sorry but I cannot understand how anyone could listen to someone this paranoid.

Near the end of the clip, beginning at the 50 second mark, he suggests that the administration wants to kill him.

For those of you claiming that this comes from a biased website, ignore the site and listen to the words coming out of becks mouth. He ends the segment on his own by stating that he will be "back in a minute" so this is not being taken out of context.

Beck is a classic flimflam artist. A carnival huckster, selling snakeoil to the gullible rubes. His ploy here is classic misdirection. He has riled up the rabble into violent acts, so he points at others and accuses them of that which he is guilty of.

ANYONE that buys into his nonsense and gibberish, is an idiot.

I think Beck needs a new tin foil hat...

I agree, yet I know many people who think this man is a truth machine.

And those people have no clue how many other people are laughing at them, behind their backs, for being idiots. :rofl

Hey, there's a HUGE market in rightwing gullability. The competition for it fierce. Beck, Hannity, Palin, Coulter, Limbaugh and O'Reilley are continually having to raise the bar of stupidity in order to compete. One day, the bar will be so far out in LA LA Land, not even the idiots, that are currently their market, are gonna fall for it. (Or, maybe not. I have under estimated their gullability before.) If you indoctrinate enough fear in those sheeple, perhaps they will believe anything and these pundits will enjoy a very long career. Only time will tell. But it will be interesting to see just how stupid, stupid people can be.

Yes, Beck will die due to strangulation by Erotic Asphyxiation and Obama will be blamed.
