Taken that the Gubernatorial election is just around the corner and that Texas has an enormous number of retirees, no I think you will find that this little push back against Federal Gov. will not amount to a hill of beans.
    1. texas is one of the most conservative states in the union
    2. texas has a constant inflow of people seeking to escape the leftwing destruction of places like california; if they wanted to set up a state system to replace medicare and/or medicaid, they have a proper pyramid shaped demographic to do it with. a Texan medicaid program could refuse payment to illegal aliens, saving them not a little bit of money.
    3. if this pushback results in the Supreme Court discovering an amendment between #9 and #11; the consequences could be very far reaching indeed.

a good chunk of the military is from texas; and a good chunk of the rest would quite possibly refuse to invade. texas also has several pretty huge bases on it; which would most likely remain loyal to the central government. it could potentially be quite messy.

Well put. This is the bottom line. Funny how the so-called "conservatives" don't have a problem when it comes to the funds that will be wasted on this little bit of doomed to fail theater.

So how are the States to pay for the manditory contributions they have to make under this new HC law? Arizona just balanced its budget which was way in debt. I don't remember the exact number, but Az now will have to provide HC coverage to 300,000 kids, etc. Think the news said that the State needs to find almost 500 to 750 million (?) it does not have. So where is the money going to come from without hurting already depleted programs?

Oops.......... 38 states are already changing their laws to make this POS illegal.

Ten US states to file suit against health care reform - Yahoo! News

    So lets do the Math!!!!!!!!

2/3rd's of 50 States looks to me to be 33 and a third States....... that's less than 38!

3/4's of 50 States looks like 37 and a half States...... that's also less than 38 States.

Any one here still think the States will be defeated in their bid to out law this POS?
Not all of those 38 will pass legislation. Most of those 38 agree with the Health Care Overhaul, and most are democratically controlled. Just because one random republican put legislation forward does not mean it will pass.

I doubt the amendment would even have 20 states supporting it, much less 34 (they round up in matters like this).
