What do unabashed Liberal Dennis Kucinich and Republicans have in common? Their opposition to Obama's health care bill.
Facing razor-thin margins in the House, Democratic leaders are hoping to convert the sole liberal who opposes their health care bill, but it seems they have their work cut out because he isn't budging.

Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) on Monday defended his opposition to the proposal in an appearance on MSNBC's Countdown With Keith Olbermann, citing as his central concern its lack of a robust public option to provide competition for insurance companies.
While it is very true that Kucinich is opposing health care reform for different reasons than the Republicans are, he is still opposing it. With that in mind, I believe a strong case can be made for the expression "The enemy of my enemy is my friend". In that vein, if I were an Ohio resident, I would surely vote for Kucinich over any Republican who would be soft, and possibly vote for the health insurance bill.

Kucinich may be a Liberal, but in the end, his vote will be a Conservative one, even though that is not his aim. In the end, it's the numbers that count. And if Kucinich is the deciding vote that sends this hogwash down, then I won't care that he is a Liberal. We will have found common ground for uncommon reasons, and that will be reason enough to call him my hero, at least for that day.

Rock on, Dennis.

Kucinich is one of the very few politicians who will never be bought out by anyone. That is to be highly admired. Hate his stances all you want... but you cannot tell me this man is not ethical.

His wife is a hot hippie too. She is like 2 feet taller than him.

I believe that Dennis is opposing the bill for exact same reason as the Republicans...they all believe it won't work.

He wants single payer, and believes that this bill will not benefit Americans the way it should.

Yeah, he believes it won't work, as is. Purdy much what the Republicans are saying...the bill won't work as is.

But for different reasons. ;)

They're saying it won't work for different reasons, but both sides are saying that it won't work.

Here's a fence post you can argue with.

Believe what you want but it's not true. Republicans oppose the Bill because they don't believe in reforming health insurance/care. Otherwise they would have attempted it in 2001, or 2002 or 2003 or 2004 or 2005 or 2006 or 2007 or 2008 or any time since the New Deal.

:rofl...Another one!

You must agree, however, that the reason for all of them is because, they believe the bill won't work, as is. Yes?

Heeeeeere's yer fence post

I have to say I agree with Kucinich on this one. I see nothing in the bill that will bring costs down over the long term. All this seems to do is prolong the inevitable collapse of the market unless serious changes are made.

I say we may as well let the thing collapse now instead of it collapsing later and possibly bankrupting the country with it.

I think he's posturing to get some free press.

He's outspoken and interesting, like Ron Paul... But at the end of the day, he mostly votes with his party...

Hogwash. They offer him a free ride home via a spaceship and a key of Columbian Gold for the trip back to his planet and he will sign it in a heartbeat.

So you'll just ignore what I said and blather about the current Bill? I can't imagine why...

Dennis Kucinich to vote against health care reform bill

Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio, talks about becoming the new focus of House leaders, who are trying to convince him to switch his vote on health reform.

It's obligatory:

And my fav quote of all time:

"I'm 60 years old, my wife's 29. Draw your own conclusions" - Presidential hopeful Dennis Kucinich joking at a cancer forum about the benefits of a vegan diet

Wow, Right... you certainly proved that the man does not stand by his convictions, and is completely bought out by lobbyists. How silly of me!!! :doh

After being watered down so heavily to satisfy the Republicans, I don't expect the bill is going to work very well either.

To satisfy Republicans? That was certainly stupid of them since they didn't need any Repub votes. Maybe those voting for Democrats should require those they vote for have basic math skills. :rofl

He's got a hot wife. That was the beginning and end of the intended message of my post.

Then he should have jumped in and defended Massa.

You know if he stopped shaving he could look like Arhmedenejahd.

Yes it was pretty stupid of them. I don't think they understood at the time that the Republicans will literally vote against anything the Democrats put up right now. If a Democratic Senator floated a bill that repeals every federal gun ban in existence, you'd still end up with a party-line "NO" vote from Team Red.

Wrong again. They understood it just fine. They just do not want to take sole responsibility for owning a catastrophic piece of legislation. After the pointless bailouts they lost some historic elections and are now a little gunshy about showing their true faces.

Think about it. They way some of you guys talk democrats have an opportunity to take sole credit for the greatest bill since sliced bread....

Who would not want the credit if that is even partway true?

The fact is they have filth on their clothes right now and are trying to get opposition parties to dance with them so they can say they are not the only dirty ones.
