that's because of the subject matter. You are idealistic.

There should be some subjects that are just too personal to advertise to the world.
My wife rolls her eyes and feels this way whenever one of those commercials comes on, in prime time, telling women how to have a "happy period"! She says these things are all sold in Rx stores so, WTF do they need to be on tv for?

I say it's to inform potential customers about their new products.

Would you feel different if this twitterer actually educated another woman and helped her to make a serious, personal decision?

I'm against abortion and would not want it encouraged. I'm also in favor of some restoration of a sense of decorum and respect to our media driven, extroverted society.

I hope you know that tubal ligations are not 100% effective. Women have gotten pregnant AFTER tubal ligations.
Tubal Ligation – Having One’s Tubes Tied During Tubal Ligation
Tubal ligation is more than 99 percent effective in the first year. This means that that out of every 100 women who have this procedure done, less than one will become pregnant during the first year of use.

Up to one out of every 100 women will become pregnant in each subsequent year following the first year (when the procedure was done).

While I believe that abortion should be legal, that doesn't mean that it is commendable. I personally find the practice reprehensible and morally repugnant, and "demystifying" it (i.e., IMO celebrating) it is in no way a positive.
    Does that mean you disapprove?

Nor do I consider the comment quoted by you to be particularly stupid. There are permanent means of preventing an unwanted pregnancy. The twitterer should have availed herself of one of them, and been more responsible with her reproductive health. A person who thoughtlessly creates life only to kill it makes me sick.
The comment is stupid. Hysterectomy is not done for birth control. That leaves tubal ligation which is not 100% effective and which is discouraged for young women whose families may not be complete. Do you know that her unwanted pregnancy was created "thoughtlessly"? Many women seeking abortions were using birth control which failed.

Interesting thing to think about ... if the right to abortion is found in the right to privacy, but the person getting the abortion waives her right to privacy ... hmmm ....

Is it your contention that this woman did all she could to prevent pregnancy? Did this woman have a tubal ligation?

    Does that mean you disapprove?
    Was I unclear?

Birth control, when used properly, is effective 99% of the time. Tubal ligation is even more effective than 99%. I would contend that the majority of abortions are not performed on women who are responsibly using birth control.

I agree with you for the most part, but if I wanted to take the RU-486 and was afraid of how painful it would be, her descriptions about what she was feeling could impact my decision.

I just want to say that for the record, I am pro-choice. My choice for myself would be to NEVER undergo an abortion. I couldn't live with myself if I did that.
