Sounds like she made a tough, thoughtful, personal decision. Her concerns were for her life and the future of her special needs child. I feel for her and support her decision. I would suggest she look into getting her tubes tied to avoid this situation in the future.
Here is one idiot's reply to her, showing just how ignorant some people are.
If her intention was to not get pregnant after the birth of her first-born then why not get a hysterectomy?
Thank You Barack Obama for Restoring Honor To The Presidency.
President Obama will rank as one of our greatest presidents!
While I believe that abortion should be legal, that doesn't mean that it is commendable. I personally find the practice reprehensible and morally repugnant, and "demystifying" it (i.e., IMO celebrating) it is in no way a positive.
Nor do I consider the comment quoted by you to be particularly stupid. There are permanent means of preventing an unwanted pregnancy. The twitterer should have availed herself of one of them, and been more responsible with her reproductive health. A person who thoughtlessly creates life only to kill it makes me sick.
It's her right to abortion and her right to twitter. I think it was attention seeking non-sense, mostly, but we live in a voyeuristic age where people can passively monitor the lives of others through "social networking". If we accept this practice in general then we're going to have to accept that people will use it in shocking ways.
The other thing is... she didn't demystify very much. A simple google search will reveal way more detail than she shared. All she did was put a personal choice on display like so many do with facebook and twitter, in order to get feedback. I don't find her reasoning very believable.
The death threats though... grow up people. This isn't Iran.
