I didn't know they had any Democrats up there in Dallas.

    To be honest, be neither.

Now that I think of it, if it had been Hutchison vs. White in November, I would have voted for Hutchison.

Medina was the only sane choice but not that great either.

    These elections really suck.

They offer you very few options.

    You can pick

    Death by electrocution
    Death by firing squad
    Death by lethal injection
    Death by hanging

In the end you arent going to be happy no matter what.
    Thank you

    Re: The Texas Primaries

I was in favor of Medina, at least initially, however after her debacle on the beck show I decided that we in Texas could do without yet another wanna be politician who is unable to guard her mouth.

I could not bring myself to vote for Huchison, so settled for voting for perry.

That will change in the election come November, I intend going against my instinct as a Republican and voting for the only person who looks as though he has the interests of Texas at heart, namely Bill White.
I cannot vote for Perry as my opinion of him is the same as others on here have so clearly spelled out.
Perry is (in my mind) an opportunist.

Yeah she sunk her boat on the Beck show, I knew her "truther" answer was a big screw up. But I just could not bring myself to vote for Hutchinson as she represents the kind of career politician I'd like to see less of.

By the way, in the way of conspiracy theories, has anyone heard about this underground movement/theory that Perry is actually gay? I meet a guy a few years ago who had this whole theory that Perry was gay, hanging out at gay bars in Austin, etc, etc. I just laughed it off. But last time I was in Austin I saw a bumper sticker that said something like "the state budget is balanced, we have a surplus of millions and my governor is not gay." Not that there is anything wrong with it. I laughed and recalled the fella who first told me about this theory. His big deal was that it went to his character because Perry was out and about cheating on his wife and family and it went to his character.

I have to admit I think it is a pretty far out there theory myself.

Hopefully, Medina will get enough votes to force a runoff between Hutchinson and Perry, which will give Hutchinson a chance to gain enough ground to pull out a victory. Doesn't look promising, though. If Perry wins, I will be voting for White in the primary, which will be the first time in my life I have ever voted for a Democrat. That is how much I despise Perry. During his term in office, he has raised taxes on cigarettes by executive order, and also, by executive order, made it law that girls all get a vaccine that had not even been tested on humans, after getting a huge donation from the pharmaceutical company that manufactures it.

Perry is one of the crookedest governors Texas has ever had, so crooked that I miss Governor Bush, who was actually a pretty good governor here. Many will remember Bush for the terrible job he did as president. I prefer to remember him for the decent job he did as governor of Texas. I just wish he hadn't gotten sidetracked by those crazy people, after he won in 2000. If he hadn't, I think he would have been a pretty good president.

At any rate, Perry's got to go, and I am ready to cast my first vote for a Democrat in my entire lifetime, in order to help show him the door.

On the Democratic side, Bill White is opening up a can of whoopass on Faroukh Shami. Nothing to see here. Move along, folks. LOL.
Spending the last 18 years in the Houston area, I had a chance to see Bill White up close and he did a very good job here but I will not vote for him because of the D after his name. Sad but true as I grew up a Democrat but the Democrat Party left me and I will not vote to give them a "win" in November.

People that are voting need to look at the big picture. We are in a recession and TX has weathered that recession better than almost every other state in the country and based upon that I see no reason to change.

All the allegations against Perry and especially some here in this thread don't hold water in face of the economic conditions in this state vs. the country. I love living in TX, I love the basic independence here, the common sense that most have, no state income taxes, a choice where to live that determines the property taxes I pay, the economy of TX, and the diverse geography here.

Everyone is looking for the perfect candidate and isn't going to find it anywhere. I can find a lot I don't like about Perry but based upon the economic conditions here he has my vote.

And that is the difference between us. You will vote for Perry because he has an R after his name. I will vote for whichever candidate that won't to sell our highway contracts out to China, or tax the crap out of our highways by turning as many of them as possible into toll roads, or tax the crap out of cigarettes, or attempt for force our school girls to take vaccines that haven't been tested on humans, or steal money from our State Parks, or tax the crap out of alcoholic beverages, or many of the other things that Perry is doing.

I am surprised that you call Obama a Socialist, but willingly support Perry. This tells me that you don't really care about whether or not a candidate has Socialist tendencies, but only count the letter after the name instead. The term "Socialism" is merely a word you can throw at the Democrats, while you support a Socialist at the same time, only because he is a Republican.

So let me know what gives the Governor of the State the right to sell our highway contracts to China without legislature support?

I like Bill White but he isn't the perfect candidate either. He has his warts which will come out in the campaign. There is no reason to vote for White when the state is in better shape now than any other large state in the nation.

In order to make the change there has to be a reason to change. I see no reason to change.
