Attendees of CPAC, or as Chris Matthews once called it a "Star Trek convention," cast their ballots on the third and final day of the conference and Paul was the clear winner with 31 percent of the vote.

Wait, wait, wait, this cant be right? It mustve been the liberals. Yea thats it all the liberals secretly invaded CPAC to cast their votes for Paul. No thats not right, liberals think Paul is a racist. Plus with all the anti-liberals there, they cant possibly keep a cool head. Maybe just maybe Paul's message of freedom is actually finally being embraced or maybe Im drunk thats a possibility.

54% of the people polled there were under the age of 25. That's not going to be true in the 2012 primaries.

Still, wow. Just goes to show how wide-open the field is right now.

Whichever party's out of power tends to get chummy with Libertarians. They usually go back ignoring us when they're back in power. :(

I never heard that liberals thought Ron Paul was racist

Tom Tancredo yes (and he is)

Many liberals and conservatives think Ron Paul it rather out there on more then a few issues, but I can recall anyone calling him racist

He once had his own newspaper and its writers espoused astoundingly racist views. So yes, people have called him racist.

The problem with Libertarian's

Is

Social conservatives dislike the fact they dont want the government to interfere in peoples person lives

Neo Con types, dislike the Libertarian calls for a vastly reduced military budget

Liberals (social welfare types) dislike the the Libertarian call for vastly reduced if not eliminated social welfare spending

Leaving a small percentage of the population who truely wants a small government in all aspects, one that is more true to what the founding fathers wanted

Ahh I did not know that

Most of my knowledge re Paul has come from financial websites, and ICH none of which mentioned that

I am happy to see the Republican's embracing Ron Paul's anti-interventionism platform! :)

****** That gathering was unrepresentative of the GOP rank & file. They were idealogues. Also whhen it came to Voting it wasn't exactly too well organized. The Paul factor emerges in that kind of scenario. Most of the attendees went there to get fired up against Obama & Co - the Ron Paul Brigade went there to Win that Straw poll. They are patently dishonest and probably still filled with a degree of Lyndon Larouche type bullying liars.

******* Paul is going nowhere. As good as some of the Speakers were it has done next to nothing in terms of this November or 2012. Obama is not afraid of Paul or Palin or Newt - Romney however might beat him one on one.Huckabee is a fraud.

Wow when you got no legitimate argument you pull the LaRouchie card! You do realize LaRouche is the left wing equivalent of Alex Jones right and that LaRouchies absolutely hate the American Right and view the American Left as Fascists.

****** I know who Larouche is . He's a former Communist and an adjunct at Columbia (late 60's) going under the then name of Lynn Marcus. THEN he was FAR LEFT and thought he could be the core of a Leftist takeover in the McGovern crowd. Sometime about 1975/76 it dawned on him that the Left would never come to power so he shifted Hard Right and stated filling up Aorports with Nuke Power advocates and those who made it a point to confront celebrities.

****** I met this bunch 38 years ago in NYC and they would throw a Good Ass Whipping on anyone Standing up to them. Larouche eventually went into Heavy Credit Card fraud in the 70's & 80's and got nailed for it. Since 9/11/01 his outfit (heavily diminished) were part of the Truthers and ****heads like Alex Jones knew it. Paul knew the Alex Jones followers had the Larouchies there.

***** I think you are focusing on ideology and nbot virtue here NOT that Larouche or Jones have any.

10,000 people there 2,400 took part in the poll......do the math......

I was hoping we would not have to put up with this crack pot in 2012.............

10,000 people there 2,400 took part in the poll......

You've got to love the Republican's enthusiasm for their party's choices!!!

That wasn't a Republican event...It was a Conservative event........

OK, you've got to love the Conservatives's enthusiasm for the Conservative choices!!!

The libertarians were probably practicing spliff politics.

And Ben Smith over at Politico notes that the attendees of the conference don't really sync up with the rest of the country.

From the OP's linked article.

I thought you were a conservative, aren't you enthused?

Wouldn't it be funny if far more people liked Ron Paul than the news told you? 0_0 <-- serious face

Wonder if Romney run how many people on this forum currently talking about how few people participated in the poll, or how out of touch with mainstream america or the GOP, would be completely silent or making comments of Romney's potential win in 2012?
