Actually I think it is more true of people in general rather than just a typical conservative.

That being said Danarhea explained pretty well where the OP is wrong.

It was how he did, that matters. The OP put up an article and made a few comments that did not warrant that kind of response.

I thought it was a bit harsh at times, but not nearly as bad as it seems you are making it out to be.

Well, if each person can only claim up to 30% of their tidbits within a two year period - up to $1,500 then why did the government need to allocate 5billion for the entire program and overall focus?

The program isn't even all paid-through. They've only processed 522million of it - not all 5billion . . . and only 9,000 people (homes) have benefited.

So - where'd the money go?
Well - the point of the article is that it WENT down the drain - straight to the bureaucratic septic tank.
A screaming comes across the sky.
It has happened before, but there is nothing to compare it to now.

That is part of the lie. More than 4,000 homes in the Houston area alone were affected last year. Just my company alone sold 50 new systems that qualified.

The reason few people have received no money SO FAR is that almost all those who did work last year on their homes won't see a penny of it until AFTER they file their tax returns, which they haven't done yet. Most people still have not filed their tax returns yet. This benefit comes in the form of a TAX CREDIT. Duhhhh. And that article, my friend, is a good example of what is known as lying by misrepresenting the data. For proof of that, just wait about 12-15 weeks or so, when all the tax returns for last year have been processed.

And nothing went into the bureaucratic septic tank either. All that is needed to claim the credit is to fill out one single solitary form (an IRS form 5695), and send it in with your tax return.

The thread topic was more than 50 grand per home. That is what I responded to. Don't try and change the subject. I caught you posting this lie, pure and simple.
You are talking about a completely different tax credit than the weatherization program. The $1500 energy credit is for improving the efficiency of your house by installing new HVAC equipment, new windows, new roof, extra insulation, or high efficiency wood burning stoves. This program gives you a tax credit for up to $1500 for installing these items. You must pay for the improvements then apply for a tax credit.

The program in the OP is a weatherization program for low income people ONLY. The government pays someone to conduct an energy audit, then recommend and install, free of charge, improvements. This program will pay much more than the $1500 energy credit and the people that get it don't have to pay anything out of pocket.

And the weatherization program does have a massive administrative overhead.

I installed a new front door and patio sliding door a few years ago and got some tax credit.
