Nothing but a dog-n-pony show. What they really mean to say is, "He's not a real leader, so we have to create the perception that he's a real leader, because the people are seeing right though his act".

White House officials are retooling the administration's communications strategy to produce faster responses to political adversaries, a more disciplined focus on President Obama's call for "change" in Washington and an increasingly selective use of the president's time.

The messaging adjustments are the result of an end-of-the-year analysis in which White House advisers said the president's communications team had not taken the initiative often enough and had allowed drawn-out debates in Congress, and relentless criticism by Republicans, to drown out his message.

White House revamps communications strategy.

In other words, the White House propaganda machine is putting their data into the computer to see if they can't fool more of the people more of the time...

From the OP.

First, they said, is a return to the disciplined messaging that was a hallmark of the 2008 campaign, in which unhelpful themes were filtered out in favor of topics that advanced the candidate's goals. In the White House, they said, that will mean a tighter focus on Obama's commitment to the economy and jobs for average Americans. "The threshold for things he will go out and talk about is higher," one senior aide said.

I think they are afraid the press is going to start asking real questions.... questions they don't want asked.

The honeymoon is over.

I think what may come of this is that there will be a group of White House pin heads combing through every minute of audio and video with Obama on it before every speech is readied for the teleprompter so that Radio Talk Show Hosts but mostly Glenn Beck can't do as he and others did yesterday and point out in Obama's own words the lies he tells everytime he opens his mouth.

Yesterday it was all about how ge claimed he only had contact with ACORN for a short time 14 years ago he forgot he'd lied about that and then said his whole career wa tied to ACORN. Oops.

Now there will be a strategic office of making sure every speech is on a new subject because he's already lied about every one that's come up so far.

The official name will be the Office of White House communications strategy but it will really be the White House Office of New Lies as Yet Untold, as best we can tell.

They will fail, there are some many lies that can't be covered up.
