Joe Biden update: Iraq one of Obama's 'great achievements' | Top of the Ticket | Los Angeles Times

Now, the Obama-Biden pair that opposed the Iraq war and its tactics and predicted their failure is prepared to accept credit for its success.
It seems that Biden, who's from Delaware when he's in Delaware and Pennsylvania when in Pennsylvania, is certain now that Iraq will turn out to be one of the Obama-Biden administration's greatest achievements.

    No, really.

Here's how Biden put it to Lar:

I am very optimistic about -- about Iraq. I mean, this could be one of the great achievements of this administration. You're going to see 90,000 American troops come marching home by the end of the summer. You're going to see a stable government in Iraq that is actually moving toward a representative government.

I spent -- I've been there 17 times now. I go about every two months -- three months. I know every one of the major players in all the segments of that society. It's impressed me. I've been impressed how they have been deciding to use the political process rather than guns to settle their differences.

Anyone agree with this assessment, that Obama's policies on Iraq are what caused the success or was it the continuation of the Bush policy that had done so.

I thought is was ridiculous that people actually bought Obama's promise to end Iraq. Anyone with half a brain would have known that he would have concurred with the ALREADY established withdraw timetable by the Bush Administration. Before Obama was even elected the course of events in Iraq had already been laid out, he is following the plan to a "T".

But I guess no one cares because Iraq isn't popular to talk about anymore.

The fact that Biden is taking credit for it is just icing on the cake.

If Biden considers the war in Iraq to be any type of 'achievement' then he obviously doesn't have his sights set too high for the administration.

    the latter of course.

i suppose you can give some credit to the president because he allowed what was working to continue.

I disagreed strongly with invading Iraq then, and I still disagree with it now. However, having said that, it must be stated that Bush was the architect of that war, and deserves the credit, as well as the criticism for it.

NOTE: On the troop surge, I was very much against it. Guess what? I was wrong. Bush should get the credit for that, because it is what turned things around over there, and that DID happen under Bush. I still believe it was a bad war to fight, that it allowed the Taliban to get out of control in Afghanistan, and that this needless war did much to hurt the American economy, and kill our soldiers in vain.

Obama criticized that war, and now wants to take credit for those parts of it that were successful? In a pig's eye. It was the troop surge under Bush that is allowing Obama to finally pull the troops out and take credit for a victory that is not his to have. So, to the Obama administration, I am calling BS.

I pretty much agree with most of your post, with some disagreement in your last paragraph. Obama was against the war from the beginning, and I give him credit for being one of the few that had the foresight to see it was complete and utter bull. While the surge proved to make some difference, it --nor anything else--will never guarantee a "victory." As much as I despised this war, I'm torn about the withdrawl. I guess I don't know enough to make any judgement. Part of me sees this as a good thing to run and cut the losses, while another part of me thinks it could be chaotic for the people of Iraq.

I think Biden is smoking crack if he thinks anything that comes out of Iraq would be considered a victory.
No men are anywhere, and Im allowed to go in, because Im the owner of the pageant and therefore Im inspecting it, Trump said... Is everyone OK? You know, theyre standing there with no clothes. Is everybody OK? And you see these incredible looking women, and so I sort of get away with things like that.
