O'Reilly vs. Stewart!!!

Hope Steward calls O'Reilly on his stalking.. but guessing that will be edited out along with anything else damaging to Fox News and O'Reilly.

His name is Stewart, not Steward. I seriously doubt either would go for personal insults because it would be unprofessional and I believe they respect each other.

I think it would draw a lot of Stewart's liberal viewership to the show. Stewart is very popular, as you no doubt know. Even if it didn't end up working, I'd be interested to see what they would try. I think the hardest thing would be for O'Reilly to get used to Stewart's satirical comedic style.

It will also bring a lot conservatives out of the closet where they secretly watch The Daily Show:lol:

I liked this line:

(not an exact quote) "Bill, you're the voice of sanity on Fox News Channel, although that's like being the thinnest kid at Fat Camp."

I know this doesn't belong here, and that I'm breaking format, but I wanted as many people as possible to see this as quickly as possible.

Bill O'Reilly is going to interview John Stewart in about three minutes on Fox News.

Should be very entertaining.

P.S. - I'll take the points if need be.

It's against my principles to watch news shows on any network except Comedy Central.

This shows why O'Rielly really is an entertaining guy. he can be funny, he can keep you entertained. He worked well with Stewart. I think Stewart raised some good points here and I am curious at what was edited out in the couple spots with obvious editing(the interview was recorded earlier in the day). That is not a complaint, just a curiosity.

I noticed that too. They need to get better editors.

What I personally find funny is how insecure O'Reilly seems to be. The man is good at what he does, but I think he fails a bit when he has to bring people like Dennis Miller to help give him an ego boost and tell him why he dominated the interview that they are discussing. Funnily enough, he didn't really get that this time from Miller. Miller instead was straddling the line between the two of them and making supportive comments of both, even though he admitted that he agrees with O'Reilly's politics more. Then O'Reilly has to have the body language expert on for more ego boosting. I just personally find it kind of funny.

It was an odd watch for me because I really enjoy Stewart but disagree with him politically altogether, and I generally agree with O"Reilly, but I absolutely can't stand him.

O'Reilly gives me the eebie-jeebies, and his presentation skills are awful. I've never understand why he's so successful, and Hannity as well, because they just look and sound so awkward on TV.

Miller is on every Wednesday. He didn't "bring" him in just for this show.

The body language lady is on the show almost every week too.

This is not groundbreaking stuff. It's a hack opinion guy interviewing a comedian. In the whole grand scheme of things, this should fall under the category of "big deal."

Either of which could defeat Nancy Pelosi in a game of Jeopardy 100 times out of 100.

It's all relative.

I love it that all you Liberals are watching Oreilly and Fox.........

Except that comedian happens to be the best news commentator out there

I know that they are on regularly. I still find it funny and it makes him seem more insecure than anything else.

I think it's a safer bet that the only reason a majority of them watched it was because Jon Stewart was on.

What good points? Name a good point. One.

Stewart brought up these points, which I thought were interesting.

1) He is skeptical and not overtly contented with Obama like the right would have the public believe about most liberals. He also brings up the "regulatory mechanism" which is sort of a funny way to flirt around this notion of "big gov't" or government control. He brings up lead in toys and uses it as an analysis for government regulation and usage of federal fiat.

2) Stewart criticizes the congress, noting that Obama has made Congress an equal branch of government.

3) He eloquently phrases his argument vis-a-vis the "Do-nothing republicans". He brings up that they would prefer not to do anything unless its in their interest. The Press Conference comment brings up the Tort reform issue, and how Obama wants to bring it to the table for the GOP.

The Second Clip.

1) O'Rielly brings up McCain and Dick Cheney as reasons for FOX news not being a right leaning organization. Stewart has no comment, but I would posit this:
-McCain is a relatively unpopular centrist who is a dying(double entendre) breed
-Dick Cheney is arguably the most unpopular member of the GOP as of the 21st century.

Secondly, I would also add that:
-Sarah Palin is now a FOX news contributer
-Karl Rove is a FOX news contributer
-The only liberal they had was Colmes, who they fired.

really, how many liberals do you know who are completely happy with obama? i'm sure not.

Not even that. I watched the video clips linked in this thread. I do on occasion watch O'Reilly, but very rarely, about as often these days as I watch Countdown. I do watch that liberal bastion that is Hardball daily though.

Not many. What I'm trying to say though is that Stewart uses sort of a hands off, "needs work" approach to the Obama Administration.

Contrast this with the nascent and growing "Messiah" pejorative, the idea that for some reason Liberals believe Obama is the chosen one who will rescue the US.

Stewart is smart to detach himself from the stereotype of the left's love affair with Obama.

“Here's the brilliance — here's the brilliance of Fox News. What you have been able to do, you and Dr. Ailes, have been able to mainstream conservative talk radio.” — Jon Stewart on Bill O'Reilly, The O'Reilly Factor, February 4, 2010¹

I thought this was a very insightful observation.

Pretty obvious you don't watch Fox if you believe that crap.

Liberal Fox News contributors

Juan Williams
Marla Liason
Mark Lamont Hill

And thats just off the top of my head

You forgot the fact that O'Reilly exposed Stewart for the partisan hack he is when he refused to criticize all the liberal networks for refusing to show ANY of Brown's acceptance speech live yet Stewart goes after fox for cutting off Obama after being on for a full hour.

Now that was beautiful.

I'm talking about opinion shows. They are all center-right at least.

I'm not talking about the Brown speech, that's absolutely no where in my post. I'm talking about good points stewart made.

And no, I don't make a habit of watching televised news, in general. Period.

You can call O'Reilly a lot of things, but insecurity is most definitely NOT one of them.
