There's a pretty good chance a boy is going into the service when he graduates high school. That shouldn't be his first experience with weapons and guns. They should be a little bit prepared.

This was the norm for some of us older members when we were kids. There was no gun play or knife play going on in school at that time where I come from. This whole business has gotten out of hand.

Zero tolerance policies have only benefited the administrators since they don't have to do case-by-case decisions anymore. They have not helped the students and only served to create ridiculous actions like this one.

Zero-tolerance means zero brains. It's teaching our kids to assume that they will be punished for trivia that has no bearing on reality. It probably leads to a lack of respect for authority and the law. If "the law" (school rules and discipline) makes no sense, would you respect it?

Ridiculous **** like this is why zero tolerance policies are a bad idea.

Reminds me of when my school banned Pokemon cards. Except in some ways this is even more ridiculous.

My school banned Click-Clacks (anyone remember those?) and the strings used in Cat's Cradle and other string tricks.

In High School, my girlfriend and I got into trouble due to the school's "No Body Contact" rule... for standing too close together in the hall. (As it happened, the hall was very very crowded.) I argued with the VP for half an hour, demanding to know how we could be in violation of "no body contact" when there WAS no body contact going on. I lost an enormous amount of respect for authority and "the rules" that day, because it struck me as idiotic and unfair that they could re-interpret their own rules "on the fly" to cover something they just didn't like to see.

This modern "zero-tolerance" crap is even worse. Some people don't seem to understand that nonsensical law/rules damage respect for all law.

    Lego Gun..lol too funny..

Hell our teachers use to ask us if they could borrow our jack knifes so they could cut something like string or rope. No big deal, no one stabbed anyone. I seem to remember a kid or two bringing a rifle to shop class to get measurements for a homemade stock they wanted to make. No shooting took place..Of course we were a tad small by some standards. My graduating class was 54 kids and the largest class they had in decades..

Much like the thought that I cannot send either one of my kids to school with a Tylenol in their pocket because of the "Zero Tolerance" drug policy.

I found something that may be of interest to some, and maybe not so much to others:

    What's a "Zero Tolerance" Policy?

    So. What is this mean?

    "feminazification"

I was actually hoping for some kind of response.
