Employment Situation Archived News Releases

You are kidding, right, Barack Obama website? Hell, he thinks he has saved the country when the reality is 4 million people have officially lost their jobs since he took office. Obama spending has created trillions more in debt and accomplished nothing. Now he will tell you and you will parrot how great he is in saving jobs but there is no evidence that substantiates that and the only jobs created are in the public sector. 6% of the people in this country believe his stimulus has created jobs and the facts support the 94% that don't think that way.

It really is hard being an Obama supporter when you ignore the people dropping out of the market and think that is a good thing. BLS.gov will give you that data. The real unemployment rate is over 16%

Here is "your" President and that so called "inherited" deficit. Hope you can learn something from the following

I'm Sick of "Inherited"

The Washington Post babbled again today about Obama inheriting a huge deficit from Bush, blah blah blah. Amazingly enough, a lot of people swallow this nonsense. So once more, I'll try a short civics lesson.

Budgets do not come from the White House. They come from Congress, and the party that controlled Congress since January 2007 is the Democratic Party. They controlled the budget process for FY 2008 and FY 2009, as well as FY 2010 and FY 2011. In that first year, they had to contend with George Bush, which caused them to compromise on spending, when Bush somewhat belatedly got tough on spending increases. For FY 2009, though, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid bypassed George Bush entirely, passing continuing resolutions to keep government running until Barack Obama could take office. At that time, they passed a massive omnibus spending bill to complete the FY 2009 budgets.

And where was Barack Obama during this time? He was a member of that very Congress that passed all of these massive spending bills, and he signed the omnibus bill as President to complete FY 2009.

Let's remember what the deficits looked like during that period:

If the Democrats inherited any deficit, it was the FY 2007 deficit, the last of the Republican budgets. That deficit was the lowest in five years, and the fourth straight decline in deficit spending. After that, Democrats in Congress took control of spending, and that includes Barack Obama, who voted for the budgets. If Obama inherited anything, he inherited it from himself.

In a nutshell, what Obama is saying is I inherited a deficit that I voted for and then I voted to expand that deficit four-fold since January 20th.

Gallup :rofl explain why Gallup is so far off on Obama approval ratings. Check out RCP

They can also check out the CNN poll and we all know how "anti" Obama CNN is, LOL

CNN poll: 52% say Obama doesn't deserve reelection in 2012
By Michael O'Brien - 02/16/10 01:35 PM ET

52 percent of Americans said President Barack Obama doesn't deserve reelection in 2012, according to a new poll.

44 percent of all Americans said they would vote to reelect the president in two and a half years, less than the slight majority who said they would prefer to elect someone else.

Obama faces a 44-52 deficit among both all Americans and registered voters, according to a CNN/Opinion Research poll released Tuesday. Four percent had no opinion.

Did you find the numbers in the BLS listing showing how many people have dropped out of the job market?

What you seem to have a problem with is we have spent billions and still 4 million jobs were lost. Obama has grown the size of the public sector which is unsustainable. All taxpayers have to pay for that expense. We have an economy built on the private sector that Obama is destroying.

What I have a problem with is the promise made that the stimulus plan had to be signed without reading it to keep the unemployment from exceeding 8%. In reality is it closer to 16+% which should bother you instead of taking victory laps for the Obama lies. There is now way you can measure jobs saved and that is what Obama is claiming.

AAAAaA,,,, the mean old Democrats force Dubya to start a meaningless war and forced him to keep the veto stamp in his back pocket.:rofl

Do you understand the difference between debt and deficit? Obama claimed he inherited the deficit he had and that post of mine tells it like it is. That so called meaningless war cost 100 billion a year and is a drop in the bucket compared to the 3.8 trillion budget that Obama just submitted.

Deficits are yearly, debt is cumulative. Obama's deficit in 2009 was 1.47 trillion, 2010 it will be 1.6 trillion, and the projection for next year is 1.3 trillion. None of those have anything to do with Bush. Obama's defense budget is more than Bush's largest Defense budgets.

Do you see any chart on BLS showing saved jobs?

Why are you so passionate trying to defend this empty suit?

Did you ever take a civics or history course to find out the role of our govt?

I have gone back and checked BLS and what I found was that Obama's numbers tell you the story I have been trying to tell you, we lost 20,000 jobs in January BUT read the rest of the BLS report which Obama obviously overlooked reporting. Here is what you will find

Discouraged workers means they dropped out of the labor market.

Discouraged workers

October 734
Nov. 861
Dec 929
Jan 1,065

There were over 1.065 Million workers that dropped out of the labor market or 136,000 more than in December. Add that 136 thousand to the unemployed number as that is where it belongs.

think for a change and get off your knees with this empty suit.

Its good to see an improvement in job loss rate!

Labor Market Shows Signs of Rebirth in New Data

"The unemployment rate unexpectedly dipped to 9.7 percent in January, from 10 percent in December, the government reported Friday, buoying hopes that the worst job market in at least a quarter-century is finally improving.

But a different survey in the Labor Department’s report found that the economy lost 20,000 net jobs during the month, muddying the picture and underscoring the formidable struggles still confronting millions of Americans. Yet with the pace of decline slowing, most experts focused on signs that the economy was recovering after the longest recession since the Great Depression.

Manufacturing added 11,000 jobs in January, the first monthly increase since November 2007, while the length of the average workweek rose slightly at factories. The economy added 52,000 temporary workers, and average wages increased modestly, amplifying the view that commercial activity is reawakening after two years of hibernation."

There is no increase of employed just people no longer counted because they are off unmployment.

Funny how the day before your article this came out.

FOXNews.com - Jobless Claims Rise Unexpectedly to 480,000

The number of newly laid-off workers filing initial claims for jobless benefits rose unexpectedly last week, evidence that layoffs are continuing and jobs remain scarce.

The rise is the fourth in the past five weeks. Most economists hoped that claims would resume a downward trend that was evident in the fall and early winter.

The Labor Department says that new claims for unemployment insurance rose by 8,000 to a seasonally adjusted 480,000. Wall Street economists had expected a drop to 460,000.

The four-week average, which smooths fluctuations, rose for the third straight week.
The number of people continuing to claim benefits was unchanged at 4.6 million.

Apparently you don't understand how the Establishment and Household Surveys work. The unemployment rate only dropped because the number of people counted as unemployed dropped out of the workforce and no longer are being counted. That pleases the brainwashed. I now know 3 people making up that 6% who believe the stimulus program has worked in creating jobs.

This country wasn't built on the principles Obama is implementing but the brainwashed jump for joy with every bit of so called good news, news that isn't good at all.

Except that U6 came down as well. I noticed you ignore that post.

While it is true that unemployment numbers haven't been accurate since Carter, when the broadest base of measuring declines, unemployment is getting better.

So hundreds of thousands of jobs lost is an improvement. When we get below 100,000 thousand talk to me.

Apparently going from over HALF A MILLION job losses to 20,000 isn't good for you.

You still don't get it do you? Job claims and job losses are two entirely different things. You ignored the fact that job claims are not correlated to monthly job losses. If you lost your job last month and applied this month, guess what? You're not in this month's unemployment numbers.

Christ sake, you don't even understand the terms you are using.

Thats why only 480,000 newly laid off? That is better? Tell that to those laid off and those who have run out of unemployment benefits.

It is a cult, it is a cult, it is a cult!

over 1 million people are listed as discouraged and that is up 136,000 over the previous month and these are the people that dropped off the survey. OC and the other Obama cult followers will always point to news that supports their point of view and ignore the data that goes into that report.

You want so badly to believe you made the right choice in voting for Obama that you will latch onto anything you believe is good news. The problem is he has done nothing to help the private sector and that is where meaningful jobs have to be created. Without the private sector any job creation is shortlived and unsustainable. Taxpayers cannot afford this massive growth in the size of govt.

Over a million people dropped out of the job market in January, up 136 thousand over December. That is why the unemployment rate dropped and why the jobless rate is closer to 16% than it is 9.7%. Doesn't it bother you that people are dropping out of the job market?

Down to what-16% unemployment? You believe that is good news?

Here is the lastest report today

Updated February 18, 2010
Jobless Claims Rise Unexpectedly to 473,000

AP

The number of newly laid-off workers filing applications for unemployment benefits unexpectedly surged last week after having fallen sharply in the previous week.

Down to what-16% unemployment? You believe that is good news?

Well, I've given up all hope you can debate honestly.

Did I say the number was good? No. But a decline is good news.

Or maybe you think that increasing unemployment is good news and that declining unemployment is bad.

I believe that decreasing unemployment is a good thing. Now you seem to think otherwise.

Welcome to Conservative's world: Where a decline in unemployment is bad news. Fewer people being laid off is BAD. More jobs is BAD.
