Danny Glover: Haiti Earthquake Caused By Global Warming
Pat Robertson said that "a pact to the devil" caused the devastating earthquake in Haiti, and now Danny Glover proposes a marginally less insensitive cause: climate change.

"What happened in Haiti could happen to anywhere in the Caribbean because all these island nations are in peril because of global warming," Glover said. "When we see what we did at the climate summit in Copenhagen, this is the response, this is what happens, you know what I'm sayin'?"

So.

Where is the outrage on the left at this latest exemplary behavior of one of their own?

Uh, more than that, if he thinks this is the "response" to Copenhagen, then he apparently thinks the Earth is pissed off.

I don't know maybe we should listen to Danny he's clearly not a dark black man and has no Negro voice inflections, and we all know that makes you a brilliant person with a great political potential.

Oh wait Pat Robertson said it was God getting even for the Haitians defeat of the French in the rebellion before they gained independence back in 1804. Gog sure is a mean one to wait over 200 years then get even with innocent people who most likely don't even know their own history.
Where is the outrage from the token Black guy that I thought was on stage with this freak.

I love the way Crazy people are allowed to be out in public and possibly put normal people at risk.

We now have two of them that prove my point they should be locked up for public safety.
Glover is saying things like you might expect Christian Glover to say and Pat Roberson is just crazy as hell. But then maybe the Devil made them both do it.

Glover kisses Hugo Chavez's ass, while Robertson actually runs a humanitarian disaster relief program.

So.

Where is the outrage on the left at this latest exemplary behavior of one of their own?

No, I think what Glover is trying to say in his own inn articulate way is that just as America did not have admirable goals and intentions to lead the world to successful GW agreements in Copenhagen, so too America has not given enough (money) to allow Haiti to become a societal utopia strong enough to withstand a mere 7.0 earthquake.

And of course this is because America is a brutal, evil state, intent on spreading misery throughout the world.

How does this even compare to the comments made by Pat Robertson? Glover is probably wrong as to what caused the earthquake... But he definitely isn't speaking religious damnation over Haiti like Pat Robertson.

:doh

I didnt realise utopia was required to stop natural disasters. Maybe in a Katrina-was-gods-intent exaggerated kind of way.

No, he's just speaking for the Mother Earth crowd which have their own religion. Mother Earth caused this because of the screwup in Coppenhagen.

Danny Glover is a great actor.. Lethal Weapons series ftw..

However he is not only wrong here but looks like an idiot.

I'm glad that the honorable Professor Glover gave his many fans worldwide his scientific findings on the cause of earthquakes in the Caribbean. I'm sure it took him years of research.

The Nobel Prize committee should take notice, he definitely meets their their current criteria for receiving a Nobel Prize, I would say!

You missed what I was saying. I didn't say it was to "stop" a natural disaster. I said it would better "withstand" one.

Actually you said it would withstand one. Not better" but "would". That's an absolute assertion, claiming that a "mere" earthquake would leave it unaffected, stopping the disaster from causing damage, which of course is arrant nonsense.

" ... utopia strong enough to withstand a mere 7.0 earthquake. ... "

An irrelevant actor said something stupid. Let's move on.

Oh no! We need a 50 page thread about it, just like we get when Pat says something stupid and not worth discussing.

Well I tend not to pay attention to movie stars when they try to talk about science. Otherwise, I would be thinking that prescription medication for psychological disorders such as depression are wrong and should never be taken.

The key is relevance. We need a 50 page thread when Pat says something stupid because he has influence. We need a 50 page thread when Biden says something stupid because he has influence. Danny Glover hasn't starred in a good movie since.... Predator? And he certainly isn't a political force.

Danny Glover is an idiot. I don't think he was intending to do this, but his comments certainly make it look like he ONLY has an interest in furthering his own global warming agenda. His comments reek of someone who has no clue what they are talking about.

He does? Or is he just another Religious Rightie and that's the reason for all the knashing of the teeth? Glover is a black tree hugger and he doesn't get the same amount of attention? Hmmmm! Very telling commentary.

Personally, I don't think either are worthy of discussion.

Semantics.

Yes, you call it correctly. I missed being totally concise. However, I was looking at it both ways in my mind as I wrote it. As for my own estimation of how an advanced society like our own will face a 7.0, then, we are better equipped to withstand it in that we will have fewer casualties. But as for how Danny Glover might be looking at it...he may very well believe that if only the evil America would do the right thing, then everything can be beautiful.

In any way we look at it, Glover is not very realistic at all.

Glad I could give you guys an opportunity to have a "gotcha" moment. Thank me very much.

Yes.

So, he doesn't get as much attention because he's black? Or because he's an irrelevant actor who is in no way consider the leader of some larger movement or organization? You must have comprehension issues, read my last post again.
