Re: Obama sets a new low

It's not really a huge surprise. He isn't exactly doing much to please the people who voted for him or living up to his campaign promises. He must not be too interested in getting re-elected, which is a good thing if this is how his Administration is going to be run. However, i do find it a little ironic that approval numbers now suddenly matter to people on the right now that Obama is President.

With the State of the Union speech coming up, Obama's going to have his very own season premiere for his very own version of "Lost"

Personally, I think it's kind of funny that he couldn't bump the season premiere of Lost. I'm also quite glad because I'm a huge fan of that show and would much rather watch that than watch a speech with more empty promises.

I know I'm looking forward to it! In a strange way I'm glad they decided to end the show on a timeline - should make for a great season, hope the writers are up to it!

Obama needs as many people watching his speech as possible, it should give him a little boost in the polls. If I were the Dems, I'd have someone yell "Liar!" and then have everyone turn and stare at Joe Wilson in shock.

What I hate most is when they use people as props. They've always got a few up in the balcony waiting to be "used" for political gain.

I think the point of Pete's comparison to past presidents is that its much too early to determine. Many presidents struggle in their first year and many are able to turn it around by the end of their first term. We'll just have to see where its at in a few years

Cynically, I think this Haiti disaster will boost his numbers at least in the short term. But there's a really high chance that Haiti will blow up due to the massive loss of infrastructure. If Obama and the administration do well, his numbers will hit 50 or higher again and they'll ride the Haiti success all this year and make it a center piece of 2012 if it comes out successful.

The sheer amount of dollars and aid needed however I think will be staggering just to keep Haiti afloat and then rebuilding for such a poor nation? Not sure how that is going to work out.
I think if Thomas Jefferson were looking down, the author of the Bill of Rights, on whats being proposed here, hed agree with it. He would agree that the First Amendment cannot be absolute. - Chuck Schumer (D). Yet, Madison and Mason wrote the Bill of Rights, according to Sheila Jackson Lee, 400 years ago. Yup, it's a fact.

And let me repeat again.. I never claimed that they were!

All I am saying is that if Obama is a failure now for whatever reason because his approval rating is at what it is at, then Reagan must have been a failure too for whatever reason because his approval rating was similar at this point.

So answer me this.. was Reagan a failure at this point in his administration or not?

Just remember. "It aint over till the fat lady sings".

Don't count your marbles until the game is over.

Conservatives love polls when it favors their ideologies but have contempt for them when they go against them.

You can't have it both ways.

Reagan wisely didn't promise heaven and earth and place himself as "hope" and "change" for the entire World - so no, he wasn't a failure because he didn't artificially inflate expectations to the wild beyond. He had what's called "experience".
