I think she meant AFTER his death...not during the incident.

I understand. I don't see how it makes things any different. You need to Tweet that your child is dead? Have people lost their minds?

Eh, different people use different methods to get empathy and support. It would be like someone posting something like that here, at DP. If folks see people as an important and supportive network, they will share information like this, there.

    Yes, this, exactly.

Also, remember, she is a professional blogger who used twitter, in part, to promote her writing.

I think it's reasonable to assume that a good part of her support network is there on that site.

Agreed. Like I said before, that's insane.

I've encountered women like this online, though. There are a lot of very isolated, lonely SAHMs. Some of them should probably consider getting part-time jobs and getting back out into the world since staying at home is not meeting their social needs. I wonder how much kids are neglected because of the internet in some cases.

There is social pressure these days for women to stay at home and raise their kids, but some women just aren't suited for it, frankly.

I was a stay at home dad for well over a year and a half. Thankfully, I am a bit of a loner and grew up as an only child so my social needs aren't great. If you are someone who craves attention and likes to talk to people all the time, I can see how being a stay at home parent would drive you to the internet. Although it certainley doesn't excuse tweeting or blogging about your child as they are dying.
