In a letter to leaders on the Senate Banking Committee and House Financial Services Committee, the economists say a bill proposed by Rep. Ron Paul (R., Tex.) and Alan Grayson (D., Fla.) to let the GAO review Fed monetary policy would do “serious harm to the economy.” They warn increased congressional oversight would harm the Fed’s independence and ability to fight inflation.

Bernanke and his fascist cronies are running scared, its time to go in for the kill.

It seems that using fear tactics is the modus operandi in DC these days. Scream that everything is needed to save the economy and keep the people in fear. It's disgusting.

I would like to see something more in depth than the annual dog and pony show on the Hill. I can't see why having the FED defend its policies and decisions in conjunction with its money transfers would 'seriously endanger the FED's independance".

Also, has anyone else noted that Bernanke announce that the FED will make money on the bailout? Note, he stressed the word FED, not the US government or people. Since the FED is a totally separate entity from the US government, it is not the same thing.
