    Tajik rebels join al Qaeda

Tajik rebels join al Qaeda - The Long War Journal

Members of a Tajik military unit that turned against the government a decade ago have have joined the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan and al Qaeda.

An unknown number of fighters who were loyal to rebel leader Mahmud Khudoyberdiyev joined the regional and global terror groups and have been fighting the Tajik government, the deputy chief of the Tajik National Security Committee said at a regional forum held earlier this month.
If this is going to be a common occurrence, then our mission is in dire need of a new definition.
"I do not underestimate the ability of fanatical groups of terrorists to kill and destroy, but they do not threaten the life of the nation. Whether we would survive Hitler hung in the balance, but there is no doubt that we shall survive al-Qa'ida." -- Lord Hoffmann

    New definition:

If we stay, we'll just lose.

Or, maybe he has no clue about what he's saying? Leaving could cost more American lives than staying would.

You have no proof. A.Q., ironically, no longer needs a base to attack you and your family.

    To kill the enemy!

If you put military troops in almost any part of the world someone is going to shoot at you.

That's not true. They have to have a base of operations to plan and train. It's Attack 101.

No. They have the internet. There's very little training in strapping yourself to a bomb and running into a market place.

The internet has become AQ's new training program. AQ is no longer a Franchise, as it was during Iraqi Campaign and the opening stages of Afghanistan Campaign, it's now a brand. We beat the AQ rampages in Iraq and now there are AQ establishments in Syria, Palestine, and Libya (others as well, I am just not willing to guess at this point) which have various degrees of measurement to AQ proper.

Syria is former Baathists mixed with former AQ in Iraq; funded (allegedly) by the Syrian gov't.

Libya: Very Non AQ like (new Islamic Jihad Code)

Strapping a bomb to yourself isn't a tactic that is sustainable. AQ knows that. They also know they have to train in other tactics and they have to have a place to do that. It can't be done on the internet.
