I didn't watch the all important ex-con, Martha Stewart's opinion of Sarah Palen. Just wondering exactly why her opinion bears any weight?

Well, considering that she was in prison..she's probably an excellent judge of character. She could tell who the snitches were and probably won many a pack of cigarettes from fellow inmates for this.

Why is it that people always paint those with the opposite political opinion than themselves as 'dangerous'. How is Sarah Palen dangerous?

For instance, someone will want to, say, have creationism also taught in the schools. They will be branded as 'dangerous'. Or they're against Gay marriage, very dangerous! They want universal healthcare, very, very dangerous! They think that only Christians go to Heaven, oh so dangerous!

She's politically naive, yet she has a very strong support from her fans (unless she alienates them all).

Which means she has power and the ability to sway opinion and further her political career - regardless of her actual qualities and strengths and knowledge.

This is a celebrity rise - with a political platform. And that is very dangerous, I agree with that.

And I liked her when she first came onto the scene - I loved her, actually, so I understand why people like her. However, very quickly I started to realize that not only did I not agree with a lot of the republican party views, but that Palin, the new female spokeswoman to the scene, also didn't match a lot of my beliefs.
I supported McCain before she stepped in, and then when she was put into it the whole political battlefield was turned into a mockery where a celebrity status was more important than your political views.

So - you have both parties, now, headed by people who are idiots . . . one of those idiots is president and the other might be president, one day.

Honestly - I always wanted more from a strong political conservative female figure than what Palin offers, which is why I don't like her now. She couldn't even handle herself gracefully or with strength and control in an interview with Katie Couric or Charlie Gibson - how is she suppose to handle her face to face issues with foreign dignitaries and mediators, etc? That is, in fact, what a president spends most of their time doing - and with her I don't see that happening at all.

I didn't (still don't) think Obama's capable of handling foreign policy issues well when it comes to having meetings, delivering his agenda and supporting his views, etc etc .. I just think that for the both of them their attitudes and inability to handle theirselves under pressure is their achilles heel.

I don't feel that Sarah Palen is dangerous. I otherwise agree with you, Aunt Spiker. I liked her at first, but as time went by she proved her colors. Her new celebrity style book tour makes her look like she is an opportunistic publicity hound trying to cash in on her VP run.

I'd like to see the press start ignoring her now, thank you very much. All this attention is turning her into a caricature of herself and trivializing the political process.

Was the book store at fault here?

Palin Apologizes After Noblesville Book-Signing - Indiana News Story - WRTV Indianapolis

Palin responded to the controversy Friday on her Facebook.com page in a post entitled Not Enough Hours In The Day.

"I've been told that yesterday there were supporters in Noblesville who stood in long lines for hours in the cold and rain, and the book signing event ended without a chance to say hello to everyone who showed up. I am so sorry. We are working on a solution for those who were left behind. I apologize," the post read.

Borders released a statement Friday evening saying that they had planned carefully for the event, but that three hours was not a long enough timeframe in the end.

"Former Gov. Palin was extremely gracious, and engaged with our customers and unfortunately, when the event time concluded, about 300 customers remained in line, unable to meet her," spokeswoman Mary Davis said in the statement. "We regret that any customers were unhappy with this event, as customer satisfaction is a priority."

Those who didn't get to greet Palin personally were offered an autographed book plate, which Davis said was "satisfactory to the vast majority of those who did not have the opportunity to meet her."

Exactly - she's a drama queen and this is just feeding her need for attention. She's obcessed, as is evident by her bailing on her job because of her inability to function under the limelight.

McCain's decision to choose her really pissed me off, actually (not immediately, but after a short while) - there are other strong female figures in politics that he could have opted for if what he really wanted to do was ignite the GOP and gain support.

Instead he just turned the whole political scene into a mockery - the democrats had already done enough damage with Obama, but at least Obama is a well rounded and intelligent individual. . . Palin's not even that much.

Kay Orr, Linda Lingle, Vesta Roy . . .etc etc.

But he chose Palin of all those out there - why?

Him choosing Palin and the whole racist crap that came out during hte election are the reasons why I re-examined some of my views with the republican association I had going on.

So it's a 3 hour book signing. Doesn't look like Palin did anything wrong here. Let's move on.

Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord? And who shall stand in his holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to what is false, and does not swear deceitfully. Psalm 24
