Insurance companies need to get out of the doctor business. If this poor woman were to injure herself do to the insurance company refusing to pay they should face criminal charges!

How long did this woman actually think she was going to be supported, this is the question?
I better not take pictures though. Otherwise, I may have to answer to the authorities above for responding positively!
As long as she was entitled to under the law or employer's policies.
Exactly, and the insurance company decided she was a fraud, and cancelled her policy, end of story.
Yes, exactly. Nothing wrong with that, unless she wasn't really a fraud.
If you can go to the beach, you can go to work, period!
Thanks, Dr. Expert.
You mean instead of paying you in your salary. We do for certain things, like dental, prescription, eye care, etc. This is mostly paid for by our workplaces.
The Eastern Townships woman was receiving monthly sick-leave benefits from Manulife, her insurance company, but the payments dried up this fall.
You are quite welcome, just let me know if there are any other glaringly obvious realities I can point out for you.
Ummm - just why is being depressed worthy of extra sick leave? I don't follow.
Yeah, mental illness involves obvious things that don't require any expertise whatsoever to understand.
You have no freaking idea what you're talking about. So stop.
Depression is a disorder that can most often times be controlled with a combination of medicine and therapy. I worked at a drug rehabilitation center for two years, I think I have the experience and knowledge to comment on this issue.
Of course we are all only guessing and this point as to the true health of this woman, but the amount of time and treatment that she has received, this tells me she should be more then ready to return to work. The pictures, the fact that she was even confident enough to go on vacation, and leave her saftey zone, this also points to recovery.
Then you should know better than to diagnose someone based on a news story that gives you nothing more than information about pictures on Facebook. It's absurd. A professional would be fired for doing that. It's why they are allowed to do it and you aren't.
Points to, maybe. But it's not a diagnosis.
Well you are not even being honest here, as you split up my post to fit your own agenda, that is what is absurd.
I am commenting on the business end of this issue, the amount of time that has passed, the help already received, the pictures of a happy, healthy woman frolicking on the beach........I side with the insurance company, I believe they made a rational, reasonable decision.
Side question on this.
Is depression diagnosed differently in Canada then in the US?
Do they use simliar standards to the American Psychiatric Association DSM or do they have their own?
Help me out, Canadians.
Apparently in Canada they diagnose it by looking at Facebook photos.
But I'm not Canadian.
