How low will he go? Obama gives Japan's Emperor Akihito a wow bow

Yes, that's right, he bows, to kings and emperors. The man disgraces the office of the President, and our country.

Hey, what does President George Washington, President John Adams, and President Barack Obama have in common? That's right, they're all "bow-ers"!

President George Washington would bow to guests at presidential receptions to avoid physical contact and the tradition lasted through the presidency of John Adams. Washington would rest one hand on a sword and the other holding a hat to avoid the remote possibility of anyone forcing a handshake! Thomas Jefferson ended the tradition of “bowing” by shaking hands when greeting people (ConstitutionFacts.com - Learn about the U.S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the Declaration of Independence and much more!).

But seriously, though...getting riled up over the President bowing...

Really?!?

You are close but no cigar. Bowing has many functions in one. It expresses the feeling of respect, thanking, apologizing, greeting, and so on. It's a convenient and important custom for you to learn. You can bow, when you say, "Thank you", "Sorry", "Hello", "Good bye", "Congratulations", "Excuse me", "Good night", "Good Morning", and more.

He who bows lowest wins, because the lower the bow the more respect it shows.
I hope this idiot Obama keeps his mouth shut about the hisrory of WWII because he's shown he has no knowledge of the facts.
How so, exactly?

I don't think that people actually care about the bowing. They are just looking for anything to bash Obama. In many ways, these people are nearly identical to people who bashed Bush for the pettiest of reasons. America would be better off without them.

That's just cause WishyWashington was a *****.

Obama serves the global elite, not the American people.

Obama is no idiot. He understands the symbolism better than anybody else. After the backlash over his bow to the Saudis do you really think there is even a slightest chance he didn't know what this means ? NO

This is deliberate. Obama is proving himself to his masters just as Bush did when he presided over 9/11 inside-job and just as Blair did when he presided over 7/7 bombings inside-job.

Either you ( the US President ) do what your masters tell you or the same thing will happen to you as did to JFK.

So why don't you round them up and send them to the reeducation camps. You could execute those that persisted being non-compliant.

.

I wonder what the purpose of a 70 car motorcade was. Did this include press as well?

Bowing in Japanese culture is the equivalent of a handshake in ours. Chill out and save your e-rage for things that Obama does that are actually negative and that actually matter

Okay. So then, did the Emporor bow to the President?

I didn't think so. So now, is anyone ready to criticize the Emp for that?!!

Ask the Japanese, it was their motorcade, not ours.
As for bowing, it costs nothing to show respect, yet the gesture pleased the entire Japanese nation. Obama is confident enough to show respect without feeling inferior, and our nation certainly is strong enough to respect others.

I can understand how a Republican would have issues with inferiority, but the rest of us have no problem seeing Obama make a gracious bow to Japan's emperor.

Dude, if you can't handle foreign customs, just stay home with your gun and Bible.

this man is a public servant...

Well, Christ then, give him a bottle of whine, a corkscrew, and a napkin to put over his sleeve.

He's the president of the United States, and as such should not assume any posture of submission to any petty emperor or king.

A symbol of respect?

He's the head of the greatest nation the world has ever known. What part of "he's paying respect merely by being there" don't you people understand?

It's not like he's puking in the Prime Minister's lap.

Stop worrying about symbols, and worry about what the Office is actually doing.

No more wool cloth for your eyes, sir.

The President is a symbol, and its necessary that the current holder of that symbol not tarnish it or bend it out of shape.

The flag bearer of every nation was supposed to dip their country's flag while passing by the Führer and the Olympic officials. The American flag bearer upset many Germans in the audience by ignoring this, adhering to the U.S. custom of only dipping to the President of the United States and no one else.

The president of the US bows to no one.

The Messiah is a disgrace.

Bowing in our culture is a gesture of subservience....as it is in EVERY culture that bows.

That's why Americans don't bow.

Then again, no one every seriously claimed the Messiah was a real American.

Besides, look at that picture.

Mr. Miyagi would have slapped that boy in the head, saying, "never look down. Look in the eyes!"

They wanted to piss off Albore and the envirowhackos, obviously.

Everyone knows the President should be hauled around in a Prius.

My first response to this bow, was the same as to the one with the Saudi king. Is he really indicating what he will do to their 'royal scepters', if they give him money for his social causes?

Well I'm sure some of those cars were ours, as the president limosine is usually brought along. Nevertheless, 70 is like a funeral. :rofl

"Dude", you are apparently oblivious to Kernel Sander's statement I was responding to. Read it and then give it as much thought as you need.

Now, which ignorant stereotype should I bestow upon you?:thinking

It's just come to my attention that when Obama met Queen Elizabeth II as president he didn't bow. Can anyone explain why the Baby Jesus bowed to the Saudi King and Japanese Emperor, but not to the Queen of England?

Because bowing in English culture is a symbol of subservience, but in Arab and Japanese cultures it is a symbol of mutual respect, and not of subservience.

Not all cultures are the same.

That's because she had no Royal sceptor to polish with his royal mouth;). And no money to give in return.:lol:
