How low will he go? Obama gives Japan's Emperor Akihito a wow bow

This is just left and right nonsense, bush goes through the wrong door, liberals post the picture, and all lol. Obama bows to the king and emperor, and the far right posts the pictures and lol.

We have much bigger fish to fry in both parties, like how they are destroying the wealth of this country, all while spending trillions of dollars they don't have. Or how they are attempting to destroy our fragile free market system, and kill our capitalist system, a system that has been the envy of the world. still another worry, now they want to take over our health system, controlling more and more of our daily lives.

we have real problems people......

I agree that the OP is nonsense, but so are your hyper-partisian claims that President Obama is "destroying the wealth of this country...the free market system...capitalism", etc., etc. Wall Street did that months before Obama took office. Unfortunately, so many people (moreso on the right) honestly and wrongfully believe all the hype that they dismiss all the things that took root within this country's free trade system and our economy long before January 20, 2009.

I think folks just need to take a step back (those who do still have jobs) and recognize that current Presidential policies had nothing to do with the fall of this nation's economy. That process officially started in October, 2008, atleast one month before the 2008 Presidential election took place and approximately 3 months before President Obama was sworn into office.

So, let's try to take the blinders off and see things for what they really are and cast blame where it really needs to be; not on the current President but on his predecessor (or atleast on the economic machine that was allowed to go unchecked).

You are obviously uninformed, both parties have been destroying wealth for many decades, and we are distracted by partisan politics, at our own peril, I might add. If you think this started in 08, I don't think there is much I can say to a partisan like yourself, that will even begin to change your thinking, you are one of the lost.

Talk about blinders, you do not know how correct you are about that small portion of your reply.

What a clown! He needs Hillary to hold his hand.

In Japan it's customary to bow to each other....

How to Bow in Japan - Learn How to Bow Properly in Japan

Knowing how to bow in Japan might help you while you are traveling. Bowing (ojigi) is a very important custom in Japan. Japanese people bow all the time. Most commonly, they greet each other by bowing instead of handshaking. It is impolite not to return a bow to whoever bowed to you. Japanese people might be uncomfortable with any physical forms of contact although they might be used to shaking hands with westerners.

Bowing has many functions in one. It expresses the feeling of respect, thanking, apologizing, greeting, and so on. It's a convenient and important custom for you to learn. You can bow, when you say, "Thank you", "Sorry", "Hello", "Good bye", "Congratulations", "Excuse me", "Good night", "Good Morning", and more.

I thought everyone had seen the karate kid!;)

Look, Jack, you were the one speaking on the negative aspects of our nation's economy in present-day terms. I was merely attempting to convey to you that our economic system didn't breakdown to such a danger (and destructive level I might add) under the current administration as it did under the last.

Now, it is true that both sides have been on this path for years. Some just did a better job of monitoring and/or covering up the economic mistakes better than others. But this problem didn't manifest itself under the current Administration; it began with the last.

I openly admit, however, that the spending the current administration has done does concern me, but I'm not that troubled by it - certainly not to the degree where I see capitalism being "destroyed" as you put it. Far from it!

We've hit a bump in the road and that's all it is. And in an attempt to put this country's economy back on track we've had to borrow from other countries (China). Still, taking out such "loans" doesn't mean the U.S. is beholding to another country as far as how we run our affairs or how we govern, and it certainly doesn't mean we won't have the means to repay our debts. It's going to take time, but America will recover. And that's not being partisian. That's just using common sense and knowing how this country has come through tough times before.

Well I am not a patient man, and partisan nonsense really gets me going, and I don't want to get in to anymore trouble here, as I have just arrived.

Let me just point you to 1933 and the Glass-Stegall act, follow that to 1999, and the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act.

Then get back to me......

I'm familiar with both though not well verse. So, I'll have to go back and review same. Still, you've made my point: none of this mess started with the current administration. If anything, things were well set in motion long ago.

But please, don't get me wrong. I am in no way saying that this was a Republican's fault anymore than some are saying it's President Obama's. What I am saying is it's wrong, IMO, to blame President Obama for our nation's economic problems when: 1) he wasn't President when these problems manifested themselves, and 2) none of the legistlation he has signed to day has changed the way our economy functions currently. You can talk "the 'porkulous' bill" and "cap-n-trade" all you want, but none of it have been enacted yet - not even health care reform. So, it's wrong to lay blame where it doesn't belong.

I do not think I suggested that, but I will attack the team that is now in power, and will continue to do so, even if no one is listening.

Attack as you will. You have every right to speak your mind. Just try to ensure your accusations are grounded in fact, not over-hyped partisain talking points and misinformation.

They never have been, and never will.;)

Consensus of other thread: a bow in Japanese culture is like a handshake in ours. This has been blown out of proportions.

You are close but no cigar. Bowing has many functions in one. It expresses the feeling of respect, thanking, apologizing, greeting, and so on. It's a convenient and important custom for you to learn. He who bows lowest wins, because the lower the bow the more respect it shows.
I hope this idiot Obama keeps his mouth shut about the hisrory of WWII because he's shown he has no knowledge of the facts.

Personal attacks, looks like you have nothing to say that defensible on the topic. The Rev isn't even here to give you a lollipop.

Except to point out we had this discussion before. And Mr.V lost then and were made a mockery as well.

Thanks for again showing have no problem defending partisan hackery here.

Previous Presidents bowed to foreign leaders in the past, including Republicans. The painfully obvious ulterior motive you have for this is you just don't like Obama so you'll find the pettiest, stupidest, lamest, and most partisan bull**** argument you can find to attack him on while deliberately ignoring how president presidents, including your "Can Do Nothing Wrong Republicans" did the same acts.

You, like Mr. V, need to grow up.

At least you're honest about not giving a **** about being honest and consistent.

I think this shows a great deal of humility on the part of the president, he is black you know. Some people forget that.
:rofl

He should have had Hillary bow for him.

Moderator's Warning:
American and Obvious child...stop the personal attacks and stay on topic.

The Saudi King? I agree he's an ass-kisser. But no more than Dubya for kissing Rev. Moon's ass.

How about Bush for kissing the ass of a Japanese PM?
Or Clinton for the same thing?
Or Reagan for kissing the ass of the Queen of England?

Do rationally people give a ****? No. Why? Because they are rational.

Now, Dubya going to the Saudi King to beg him to drop oil prices...that's far more of an issue of ass kissing then bowing.

How low can he really go?

The mainstream media won't show you this:

obama-limbo-280.jpg

Obama doing the limbo.

They definetly won't tell you he's cheating either.

Just more fake outrage from the right over nothing.

Bowing is acceptable when dealing with cultures who treat the bow as a polite greeting between equals-- you will notice that in the photograph taken, the Emperor was also bowing. Shall the Japanese now be up in arms over the descendant of Amaterasu Omikami bowing before an elected official, a mere mortal?

The President did bow far too low for the situation; here, he appears to be showing either deep gratitude or deep shame, which is inappropriate. Someone at State should have instructed him properly. As would be expected, the bow the Emperor is returning is respectful and proper and the President should have taken his cue from that-- an extra inch or two would have been appropriate, as a sign of gratitude, reasonable gratitude, at the Emperor's hospitality.

It is just awkward cause Obama is a much bigger man and it appears he bowed lower probably cause the emperor is smaller.

Honestly at this point it is just nitpicky:2razz:

Bowing is something very Japanese and it's impossible to think a Gaijin can master it without lots of training and understanding... whoever taught Obama to bow like that should be embarassed -

Bowing is very Japanese. Touching while bowing is not usual custom. The Japanese smile when they are embarrassed. I suspect Obama embarrassed the emperor.
