Bashing Fox News was throwing a bone to the liberal base

Are we now accepting everything as a source for MSM and accepting anything printed and/or broadcasted on the internet as 'BREAKING NEWS'.

Breaking News = an important event that just happened. NOT an evaluation or opinion of some older event or issue.

Can we get some mods to jump in here and clean up these non-breaking news stories??

After aggressively promoting ACORN videos, Fox News ignores reports of Blackwater bribes

On the evening of November 11, Fox News personalities did not discuss reports from the previous evening that officials at Xe Services, formerly Blackwater Worldwide, had authorized $1 million in bribery payments to Iraqi officials in the aftermath of a fatal shooting involving Blackwater security guards.

By contrast, Fox News devoted more than one hour on September 10 to discussing videos of conservative activists James O'Keefe and Hannah Giles posing as a pimp and a prostitute while asking for assistance from employees at an ACORN office.

A news channel is a media outlet that reports the facts. Fox News fails by any standard.

Imo, Fox represents the Right. Imo, MSNBC represents the Left. Does MSNBC also fail by any standard? If not, why not? Let me guess, you're going to ignore my question.

At first, I thought, "What does this have to do with Fox News' biasness?" Then, I remembered Blackwater, Worldwide (formerly Blackwater, USA which is now Xe Services, LLC) received some rather lucrative contracts during the G.W. Bush administration (not to mention that per Wikipedia, Xe's founder and former CEO, Erik Prince, was a former intern during the G. W. Bush administration and a major financial supporter of the Republican Party during G. W. Bush's tenure as President).

Nnnnnnnnnnno, not really. The administration doesn't invent stuff out of whole cloth and then cry "opinion" as their defense when they get called on it.

How is that hope and change coming?

Of course they do.

I don't fault Faux News for representing the right. I fault it for claiming to be a news organization, when it is a political operation.

It's hard to believe anybody out there accepts CNN, Fox, or MSNBC as a source of credible information. Infotainment runs on the same concepts as the rest of the entertainment industry: they provide what you will watch. If you want unbiased information, just get it from somewhere else and stop watching. Pretty simple.

I'll go out on a limb and suggest NPR as a good source.

I'll add that any show with a single "journalist" doing most of the talking is not a good source.

Lou Dobbs got fired/resigned? When did this happen?

He quit.... effective immediately.... no 2 week notice.... told them to stuff it.... got tired of working with the communist news network.

He quit.... effective immediately.... no 2 week notice.... told them to stuff it.... got tired of working with the communist news network.

So, what really happened to Lou Dobbs?

According to The New York Times: "Months ago the president of CNN/U.S., Jonathan Klein, offered a choice to Lou Dobbs ... [he] could vent his opinions on radio and anchor an objective newscast on television, or he could leave CNN." This after months of intense pressure from those concerned with the content broadcast nightly on Dobbs' CNN program -- leading some in the press to describe the host as a "publicity nightmare" for the network. It is in that environment, that Dobbs announced last night his immediate departure from CNN, his cable news home for nearly 30 years.

Media Matters released the following statement responding to the late breaking news:

"For too long, CNN provided Lou Dobbs with its stamp of approval as he pursued a dangerous, one-sided and all too often false conspiracy tinged crusade against immigrants," said Eric Burns, president of Media Matters. "This is a happy day for all those who care about this nation of immigrants and believe in the power of media to elevate the political discourse."

Since CNN's Lou Dobbs first began spreading false, racially charged conspiracy theories about President Obama's birth certificate in July of this year, Media Matters for America has published 299 research items, video/audio clips, column, and blog posts about his misinformation and hate speech. Below are some of the most significant examples of work Media Matters has done -- this year and in the past -- to combat Dobbs' pernicious influence on the national dialogue.

UPDATED: So, what really happened to Lou Dobbs? | Media Matters for America

Well you go watch CNN then, now that Dobbs is gone you'll get the truth. Adios.

CNN isnt exactly free of bias either, and its not quality news, they only show the same stuff, and avoid the political "tough" stories, they dont ask real questions.

CNN is biased junk compared with BBC, while Fox News is fascist propaganda compared with CNN.

Let me add that ALL News networks pander to their base. Why? Because it's not news any more. It's infotainment, whether FOX News, MSNBC, or any other network, whether Conservative or Liberal leaning. And what drives infotainment? Not the truth. That much is obvious. It is all about money. And to that end, Keith Olberman is just as much of a media whore as Bill O'Reilly.

Thank you for your wise statement, and for not overlooking the reality like many of your "peers" on this forum.

I think the one who picked the fight was the lady who was just pushed out. While everyone in the White House knows Fox is a joke, it's improper to say it.

The real problem is that the majority of republicans and republican sympatizers do not know this.

Imo, Fox represents the Right. Imo, MSNBC represents the Left. Does MSNBC also fail by any standard? If not, why not? Let me guess, you're going to ignore my question.

But they do.. All of them do, including Russia Today. All are biased. Its all about knowing they are biased, then try to mix up what you watch, and get real news from the least biased source. The least biased source I know is Euronews, a briefing style newschannels with half an hour of different type of news with NO OPINIONS mixed in, simply reporting the news.

BBC is the best of the opinionated channels, because its fairly centered(although very western blind and anti-Russian/Chinese, and very narrow in trying to understand any other values and ideology than the western ones)...

On a global scale, Fox is unbelievably ridiculous, it outdoes everything in bias. Even the most biased news of Russia today and the most nationalist news from Chinese central television, in comparison seems unbiased, compared with ANYTHING broadcasted on Fox news.

No thanks, I'll just stick to reading my news in articles than actually claim to be news, so that when I catch the author lying they can't hide behind the flag of "opinion" while at the same time portraying themselves as a rare beacon of "truth."
So you admit that CNN is nothing more than leftwing hackery.

You have something against freedom of speech?

This is what the new administation has brought us all now, they knew damn well the sheep would respond in large numbers. This is how propaganda is spread, and they wonder why people are marching on washington.

Would that be Newsweek and Time Magazine?

Yeah, you're right. It's not wise to pick a fight with a broadcaster which has all of its talking heads marching in lock-step, reading off the same script 24/7, and hiding behind the flag of "opinion" while doing everything in their power to project an air of honesty and truth.

You mean like CNN?
