An Officer & a Gentleman

"How can a Muslim participate in killing other Muslims in such places as Iraq and Afghanistan?"

Guns, mortars, drones, rockets... all manner of methods to kill the rabid amongst us.

If they can't... then don't sign up or get the hell out.

They are Americans first, chose to serve this nation, and swore to defend this nation against enemies foreign and domestic. There isn't an exemption clause about not killing Muslim terrorists or any other sect, cult, group, gender or religion.

English is not my native language, but I speak, write and spell impeccable english - better than most americans.

Yeah cuz that syntax trainwreck sure gives evidence of this claim.

We use Queen's english here cuz we were a former British colony. American style english is gramatically wrong here (not all) - will fail english test if we use american style. There are spelling differences too.

What's the grammar difference?

So they'll count you as unacceptable if you spell "color" instead of "colour"?

Wow. Talk about totalitarian, sheesh. My teachers were just happy I knew how to tie my shoes.

I will as well as the other things I do to lower my energy footprint to that which does not require Middle East wars to support.

If we all did that we could finally eliminate the root cause for terrorism.

You're silly . Terrorists don't hate just us over the oil, they have fundamental and ideological differences. They hate us for who we are. One look at Pop Culture though, and I don't blame them sometimes.

On the topic of environmental footprints, some of those hybrid cars have a larger footprint to simply build them than other gas powa'd vehicles.

Art thou daft? What spake thee? Madness? Surely thou dost jest! Thine grammar of olde is nay similar to what shall be spaketheth in this era! Ye olde English, lol.

Except since it's Asia, it's "Ye olde Engrish". Jeeze.

oooohhhhh! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! COW-EYE, YOU SO FUNNY! WHY YOU AWAYS ROOK SCARED WITH YOUR BIG ROUND EYES??

O.O <-Cow eye American.

-.- <- Oh, Herro.

they wouldn't really KNOW who we are if weren't for our dependence on oil.

So what you're suggesting is that information doesn't travel any other way than by trade caravan?

of course not.

but i suspect we would have far less undesirable interaction with the middle east if we didn't NEED them.

true...that and our propensity to invade countries on a bush whim.

I think that the internet, naked women and women's rights have a lot more to do with why the west is hated in the ME than our actions in AFG or Iraq. We are a cultural threat.

wait, what? you really believe that women's right are more threatening to a me muslim than death?

while i believe they ARE threatened by our culture, i don't think that's anything that couldn't be overcome. hell, WE were threatened by women's rights not so long ago.....and some americans still are.

See you were doing so well until you started talking about bush.

Most people don't like when a liberal lady talks about bush. Her bush or America's.

Of course you are correct, they do not want to see two men holding hands, walking down the street. They do not want to see women in power, Nancy Pelosi must frighten them to death, a mere women deciding the next huge legislation. All of this freedom is what bothers them, they want control, they want to decide what happens next, not some serf......

Now, are we really that different?

I would argue that we are going back in time, not forward, and this
"progressive" movement, is anything but. Just as compassionate conservatism wanted to control our lives, all of these people crave the same thing, POWER!

Yes, I do. It threatens the very cultural fabric. It is why fathers kill their daughters for becoming too westernized. They are willing to die for their honor, which is culturally defined.

It has also been going on for decades, whereas these wars are briefer affairs.

I want to say that the rise in traditional values/extremism is in response to our inadvertant cultural attack on this region.

We do see the same traditional response here in America with some people not wanting to recognize women's rights, here. Of course, there has been a negative consequence to women's rights: divorce and single parent homes. Women can now earn their own way and so are not as economically tied to the husband for survival.

uh-huh. you're right......perhaps america's bush should be banished.

well, thank goodness women no longer are dependent upon men for their survival. that's the reason for divorce, women don't have to put up with men who treat them poorly. i don't view that kind of divorce as a negative.

I don't entirely disagree with you but there has been a social cost. I know many divorced couples and only a couple have been due to abuse. People don't take vows seriously anymore. Marriages should be on contract, for 5 year intervals.

More depressing is all the single parent homes. A very good friend of mine married her college sweetheart 15 years ago and they are a very religious family. They had three daughters, now aged 12, 9, 7. The husband went to Swanee (sp?), a religious school, for his freaking doctor of divinity. While there he decided he was going to sleep with his best friends wife and after, that they were going to get married. So he divorced his wife and she is now raising the kids on her own.

Divorce is a disease and kids are growing up stunted by the single parent homes. Even in a 2 parent home, both parents work and send the kids to day-care.

And by extension on what you said, men don't have to put up with women's ****.

"color" is unacceptable here. Grammer - for example "If it ain't broke don't fix it". Thats unacceptable.

How about spelling? It's grammar, you know.:lol::lol:
