'Change is hard': Obama one year on from election

But despite everything, he is still standing, with his approval rating above the crucial 50 percent barrier that defines a viable presidency, and some historic reforms tantalizingly within reach.
Could it be that Obama is realizing that in reality you cant get everything you want and that you have to be pragmatic about it or does he see that 2010 is the mid-term elections?

Im going with the mid-term elections.

It could be, if you believe he meant everything he said.

I prefer the "Socialism is difficult" moniker instead. "Change is hard" appeals only to his base... my version may not appeal to the base but it's more accurate and would also include support from Obama's detractors.

Rally the base to get elected, use beautiful speech to inspire, and then try to remind people to be patient when trying to pass one's agenda through.

At the moment, I'm convinced it's more of a reflection on the public than it is per se about the administration. Supporters of Obama could point to the notion that he had told the public during the previous election cycle that he wouldn't revolutionize the American political system with his election and that change comes through much difficulty, however, I argue the overwhelming focus was in making them believe much was possible rather than tame expectations.

He never said it would be easy. What's your point?
It's time for a revolution in our country. Not a revolution forged with guns and bombs but a revolution forged of compassion and altruism. A revolution that extends a hand to those who don't have and who cannot. A revolution that makes Health Care available to all those in the US.

I hope he lasts long enough to bring in those reforms, and that he is committed to bring the reforms.

I think it's a combination of... candidates overstate their goals to gain Presidency, and they have no idea how big the machine is until they are elected and placed into the apparatus. Getting things done is not as easy as they think.

Changing from the freest and most successful nation in history to a Socialist piece-a-crap is hard.

The U.S. is pretty far from socialism.
