Obama suggests Fox News is like 'talk radio'

The 'Bama should not have stepped in that pile of dog whump but he is correc t that Fox Newz is like talk radio. Let us get real Fox has Glenn Wreck and Shaun Vannity and an regular peppering of not so open minded talkers and "newzy " oozies...

Fox is not owned by the government - it is owned by Murdoch who has his own world agenda

Murdoch's own world agenda has little to do with politics, and everything to do with money. He created FOX News because he saw a niche he could fill. Here in Houston, Murdoch bought out the Houston Post and turned it into a Liberal paper. Why? Because he saw a niche he could fill and make money. Murdoch made his money, and then sold the paper, which was later bought by the Houston Chronicle and shut down.

Murdoch is a money maker. Nothing more, nothing less. If he saw a chance to make more money, he would have made FOX News a Liberal news channel.

A large portion of Fox News is its radio hosts. As a result, what Obama says is not really wrong.

The problem is that it is going to backfire for his administration by continuing to attack it. When Beck parades around with the 'hot line', and Fox News spends its time promoting this new-found "enemy of the White House" label, where on earth is the benefit for the Obama administration?

Wait -- you're saying that only government-owned news media has the job of going after the government?

Hardly - they just have to do it harder and more transparently is all

Bit like the old saying "A woman has to work twice as hard to be considered half as good as a man - fortunately this is not difficult"

But Murdoch - no matter what his leanings (and he does lean so far right he is horizontal) loves the bottom line - bet on him to promote that which brings in the money

Actually Murdoch leans so far right he is willing to lose money to promote a right wing agenda. Case in point the New York Post where News Corp loses 73 million a year. Also News Corp is about 2 billion in the hole.

I respect Obama for having the balls to finally stand up to Fox.

Balls afire! He stands up to FOXNEWS... trying to marginalize their reporting so other networks don't follow suit... but he is like a lamb when dealing with our adversaries and our national security.

He shelves missle defense in Poland/Czech after saying he wouldn't... and gets nothing for this dumb move... he is friendly with despots, and goes to the table with Iran.

Our Resident in the White House. Hopefully the fastest lame duck in history.

Man... he has balls... LOL.
I really wonder if Jesse Jackson did "cut his nuts out"... so lame is our Resident. With his endless stream of dumb moves, one could start to believe we Americans are the enemy.

.

"Diplomacy" is just a word to you isn't it?

You know America - will ye or nil ye - DOES live within a global culture that is becoming increasingly interdependent

Well, yes - now have I thanked you Americans lately for taking Murdoch off of our hands for us?:2razz:

Oh so the White House should just be complacent with what ever accusations are being tossed around?

Did you read the second sentence in that quote of mine you quoted?

Because the government's hands should be tied. If false, they can present evidence to the contrary.

If false, they can present evidence to the contrary. Please do not misrepresent or spin what I say. In the end, the WH has well better things to be doing than feuding with a news agency. But they can most certainly defend themselves with the truth. Not fascism.

he was asked a question, right? he answered it. he also said he didn't lose sleep over it, right?

fox would love for it to be a war, but obama won't take it that far.

when he tells his people to suggest to the media pool not to follow news stories fox is leading with.....he is taking it too far.

Was that too hard? If false, they can present evidence to the contrary. Please do not misrepresent or spin what I say. In the end, the WH has well better things to be doing than feuding with a news agency.

The media doesn't work that way and perception is reality.

Reality is reality. Perception is just individual measurements thereof. It doesn't change the fact that the government cannot act in fascist, statist ways against the Press. He's the President, he has plenty of access to the public. If he feels he's been misrepresented, he can use the truth to clear his name. That's it.

"Defending himself" would be refuting Fox News on the facts. "Defending himself" would be explaining how they got it wrong.

As I said in another thread, what would be more devastating to Fox than Administration people coming on to their airwaves and taking them down on their own terms? If Fox lies so much, it shouldn't be hard, and they can set the condition that it be live and unedited.

That would be "defending himself."

But they're waging a classic discredit, isolate, and destroy campaign.

Politically Perfect

I am honestly not a politically well motivated type of person. I don't know much about our President Obama, not even how the politics run. But I am a law abiding citizen, concern about our country. It's sad to say that a lot of people is against our President Obama. I am trying to read every post and mostly were really full of bitterness about our President Obama's Administration. The question is, what can we do now? His the man in charge to rule in our Country. What make us think he can never be a good president? I am trying to be fair to anyone, I just want to have enough understanding about our President Obama's administration. What are the reasons that made us think he doesn't deserve being the President of America? Are we just being a fault finder? a critic? Infairness with Fox News, I think, they are really a great media, because they keep us aware about everything especially about the Administration of our President Obama.

He's trying to deny white house access as a way to punish fox news reporters.

Actually I think their position is tohalt disinformation not punish.

Actually I think their position is tohalt disinformation not punish.

From their perspective. Having the president of the united states controling the media isn't what we do in america.....at least not until now.

fox news has real reporters? who knew?

I'd say their ability to break the acorn scandal, van jone's past statements and now annita dunn's speach to high school kids would seem to indicate they are bringing news to the public they would otherwise be denied. That's important if you believe we should have a free press. You do believe we should have a free press, don't you?

I respect Obama for having the balls to finally stand up to Fox.

I'll respond with a Spinal Tap quote:

"It's such a fine line between stupid and clever"

I do not think they are attempting to control the media. I think they are attempting to control their image. Fox news is still free to do what ever they want to do.

Actually I think their position is tohalt disinformation not punish.
How does refusing to make administration official available for interviews do that? Doesnt putting these official on FNC make it LESS likely that FNC will be able to spread disinformation by being there to refute erroneous assertions?

Seems to me that if to 'halt disinformation' were the true goal, FNC would be -flooded- with The Obama's people.
