A former contractor for the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police has been charged with rummaging through state computers to retrieve confidential information about "Joe the Plumber."
Brett A. Gerke, 52, of 2329 Woodcreek Place on the Far North Side, is charged with attempted unauthorized use of property.
Gerke entered a diversion program on Oct. 2, which typically results in the dismissal of a criminal charge. He has not entered a plea. The charge is a first-degree misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in jail.
The State Highway Patrol says that Gerke used a law-enforcement computer network on Oct. 16, 2008 to access personal information about Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher.
It would be interesting to know whether this guy and others are working on their own, or are part of something more.

Yes, there is a huge conspiracy to keep this nonentitiy's name in the news. Since his 15 minutes of fame expired so long ago, and there was absolutely no reason he was ever famous to begin with, then what could explain the preoccupation with this complete nothing other than the fact that there are those with a vested interest in making it so?

something more? like what? hasn't this dog seen his day?

If that's true, why the computer searches?

Then why does the harassment continue. Democrats are known to go after opponents until they're destroyed. Joe hasn't finished being destroyed yet. It's not that he doesn't matter now, it's that he shouldn't have ever mattered. So they need to continue until history is rewritten.

looking up info isn't harrassment. maybe he was curious? have you ever googled someone? is the guy even a dem?

i have this strange feeling that joe the plumber won't shine brightly in the history books to be written. not even a footnote.

That depends on what you are looking it up for and what you plan to do with it. If the search is done out of curiosity there probably isn't harassment, but if the goal was to "send a message", intimidate, unfairly prosecute or obtain a warrant, etc. then there absolutely could have been harassment.

true, but we have no idea what his intent was.

It may not be harassment, but it's a violation of his civil rights and therefore, a crime.

Don't you find a certain internal conflict in the need to repeatedly insist that someone is irrelevant? Your attention suggests that you find the subject relevant indeed.

Sure, Joe the Plumber is nothing but a hack, but if he is being spied on, then his rights are certainly being violated. Seems his only crime here is a thought crime that happened to piss someone off. Under the law, his privacy should be protected just as much as anybody else's. I hope that the contractor who abused his power is prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

it's a civil rights violation?

Sure it is. Your right to privacy is a civil right. When that right is violated, then you're civil rights are being violated. Surely, you're not one of those Libbos that thinks that, "civil rights", only apply to black folks?

no, i'm not. now what? was "joe" harmed?

It doesn't matter if he was, "harmed". A person doesn't have to be, "harmed", to have their rights violated. Are you saying it's ok to violate a person's civil rights, as long as no harm is done?

of course not. but now what?

Whomever violated Joe's civil rights should be tried and if convicted, they should be punished. I think it's sad that Helen Kelly only got fired for her civil rights violations.
