Ron Paul and Michelle Bachmann are supposed to be the oil and vinegar of the Republican Party. He's an anti-war, anti-Patriot Act, radically pro-civil rights libertarian. She's a Bible-thumping Bush acolyte who dreams of nuking Iran and likens gay sex to bestiality. But there they were on Friday, sharing the stage at a town hall organized by Paul backers, where Bachmann called him "one of the leading advocates for freedom in our capitol." What gives?

I smell a rat, and no Democrats are involved either.

Wingnuts Unite: Ron Paul Joins Michelle Bachmann in Weirdest Town Hall Ever | Mother Jones

That is one strange bedfellow... but both are nuts so I guess they have that in common.

The one area where I'll bash Ron Paul is that he has always played up to the conspiracy theorist crowd.

As a well known political figure, he needs to learn discretion.

When he hangs around nuts like Bachman or goes on Alex Jones' radio show, he's giving them credibility.

Would that the rest of Congress were as "nuts" as Ron Paul ...

I will say this about Jones, he makes sense sometimes, when it comes to civil liberties and such but other times he goes right out the window. Plus other sane people have been on his show.

I've listened to Jones, I think he's a lot like other talk show hosts. I listen to Rush, some of the stuff I agree with some of the stuff I think he's off his rocker for. Jones may have a higher percentage of "off his rocker" stuff, but there are things I can agree with him on.

In terms of Ron Paul, I really think people should listen to what he says. People are willing to throw out the "nut" label quickly because of what he says. Some of what he advocates is not practical, but a lot of it has merit. Which is well more than the vast majority of politicians.

Yeah man... that weirdo Liberty... that's like soooo..... weird..... dude!!

those flakey forefathers...that's like soooo..... weird..... dude!!

and :rofl.. that Constitution...that's like soooo..... weird too..... dude!!

:rofl:rofl:rofl

Do you have anything to contribute to the discussion other than your trolling?

I WAS making a point, about about how ridiculous the post and the related spin was ...........DUDE!

Thanks for letting me clarify.

Jeez... Libs don't wear the other shoe well do they now?

This has to be the most appropriate thread title in a long time.

Nothing to contribute then? Just your own personal bias?

I think contributing my reasoned political opinions are a contribution. Based on their comments and beliefs, I would call both Bachmann and Paul among the top wingnuts in politics.

Except the difference being that Paul practices what he preaches while Bachmann is only squawking whats popular.

Yeah, I know. Obeying the Constitution and insistence on responsible government is certainly a "wingnut" position. Makes me worry about what's "standard".

I did not say they where identical, only that they are both wingnuts.

Oh, I listened to what he had to say, then I decided he was a nut. Is that acceptable?

If you don't mind being thought of as a person who doesn't give a squirt of piss about the Constitution, I suppose it is acceptible.

Don't worry, you're not alone.

Why is Ron PAUL a nut? I view him as a libertarian. I also do not believe him be to anti-war. He is anti Iraq war but so are mnay normal good people.
I also beleive that Ron Paul is anti- Patriot act because that act goes against the grain of his libertarianism.

Michelle Bachmann is so nutty that her brain has got to be made out of peanut butter.

Another brilliant post from ConservaBill.

Let's have a poll........

What is flakier?

1) Ron Paul calling for America to spend only within its means.

2) Bush and Obama spending America into the poor house.

Who's the nut now? Do you really have to ask?

No but its still unsettling that people like Bachmann and others are starting to talk like Dr Paul. I guess we would have to wait till an election though.

If Paul only talked about spending, he would not be a wingnut.
