43 U.S. Troops Have Died in Afghanistan Since Gen. McChrystal Called for Reinforcemen

Re: 43 U.S. Troops Have Died in Afghanistan Since Gen. McChrystal Called for Reinforc

Nothing. TED can talk to me anytime he wishes. Go Troll elsewhere old man.
I've avoided getting into the gutter with you Rev. because that's for the basement...not here. You know where to find me down there.

Lets see....

You start ****.

Had your ass handed to you.

You ran.

Noted.

IT's ok though, As the Good Reverend, my awesomeness, is the reason Waldo hides too.

Re: 43 U.S. Troops Have Died in Afghanistan Since Gen. McChrystal Called for Reinforc

I respect TED, I just think if that is what he boiled our conversation down to, then I was done. I think, he would be far more willing to re-evaluate his statement and re-approach me and this topic differently. While you will continue with strawmen, attacks on my service, and lies.

So who said this to TED & refused further conversation? Who is running away because they got their ass handed to them?

If this is what you took from our conversation, then further discussion is futile.

That would describe your behaviour towards questions thrown your way.

Re: 43 U.S. Troops Have Died in Afghanistan Since Gen. McChrystal Called for Reinforc

It hasn't happened yet in afghanistan.

And it most likely wont happen as long as the American public keep turning against Afghanistan.

Speaking of the American Public...What's your former GOP Senator Norm Coleman doing these days...since he was beaten by a Democrat COMEDIAN I mean? (has he got his new career worked out yet?....You know...the one where he asks "Would you like fries with that 1/4 pounder?"
Tell him not to worry......He'll have plenty of former GOP Congressmen working there with him after next year's Congressional election!

Are you going to throw another one of your temper-tantrums now?

Read the thread my friend. I have been far less prone to throwing temper tantrums than your buddies ......who have called me a liar (not one lie have I posted) an "Old Man" (guilty as charged) & many other childish rants.
Me......I'm always calm & cool!

Re: 43 U.S. Troops Have Died in Afghanistan Since Gen. McChrystal Called for Reinforc

I love when people bring up the trumped up armor issue. Newsflash: a Hummvee isn't a tank and no matter how much armor you hang on it, or on the body of a soldier, you're not going to make them impregnable. I always taught my soldiers how to avoid getting shot, therefore negating the need for body armor. But, at the end of the day, Bush isn't president anymore. is he?

Your attempt to avoid eating your own words by ignoring the facts as presented is noted, but unsuccessful.

You are clearly of the mind that a President should defer to his military leaders' advice/suggestions/recommendations and follow those recommendations without hesitation. This is not only foolish, but incredibly ignorant.

Beyond this, you stated:

If the president fails to give the proper support to soldiers on the battlefield, without damn good reason, it could be considered a dereliction of duty. Unless, you can prove otherwise. Can you? Dereliction of duty is an impeachable offense.

I DID prove that the president (Bush) failed "to give the proper support to soldiers on the battlefield, without damn good reason." Ergo, using your logic, Bush should have been impeached.

Game. Set. Match. :2wave:

Now, I have a question for all you folks who are gung-ho about sending even more troops into Afghanistan.

Pray tell, where are these people going to come from?

We've already lowered our recruitment standards and have been accepting people who do not meet the minimum requirements for service. In addition:

US, UK Public Support for Afghan War Declines

Soooo, unless you folks are advocating that we initiate a draft....

To do otherwise would be the pinnacle of foolishness. If your doctor told you that you need surgery, are you going to go ask your secretary for a second opinion? Of course not.

As well as being totally un-American!

It's now un-American to listen to the advice of the military on military matters?

No...To accept that advice blindly is though.

Taking the advice of the most qualified people isn't exactly taking the advice, "blindly".

Sorry, but that hasn't happened. What qualifies you to call me ignorant? What unit were you in?

Oh, yeah, BTW:

· Army – 3,995 accessions with a goal of 3,900; 102 percent

· Navy – 2,719 accessions with a goal of 2,719; 100 percent

· Marine Corps – 1,666 accessions with a goal of 1,018; 164 percent

· Air Force – 2,162 accessions with a goal of 2,157; 100 percent

DefenseLink News Release: DoD Announces Recruiting and Retention Numbers for April 2009

Does that answer your question as to where the people are going to come from?

Taking the advice of the most qualified people isn't exactly taking the advice, "blindly".

Equally qualified people have differing opinions.

Please, show me the memebrs of the chain of command that think that McChrystal, Patraeus and Mullen are full of ****. Patreaus and McChrystal have both proven themselves on the battlefield, so make sure the people you point to are just as qualified.

Okay they have proven themeselves then why have we been at war for eight years now? Like I said I will link to different views when I get home.

Listen, man; I take it you are at JRTC, so I know you have some knowledge. Let's be honest here; if McChrystal and Petraeus were serious about securing the Afghan populace, they should be asking for more troops than 40K. But they can't have them b/c many BCTs are in Iraq still, a war that I'm assuming you support. I'm not sure the same COIN strategy will work in AFG like it did in Iraq, which is what McChrystal is essentially advocating, if I read the memo right. For one, Iraq was easier because the LOC existed and were clear and easy for our leaders to access. Buying off the Sunnis was easy b/c they weren't the Taliban. Not even close, dude. I'm not sure if you've done a tour in AFG (I know 1st CAV has not), but I think the dynamic is so different and so much more difficult that any half-ass "surge" in AFG to implement a COIN strategy maybe a fruitless effort if it's not going to work...I understand it maybe the best we can do right now, but is it really worth it if we can't do it right?
