    The Slurpee Party movement

    The Slurpee Party movement

Seven-Eleven is about to drop one of the biggest-ever petitions on Congress – maybe the biggest ever.

The House of Slurpee has collected about 1.66 million signatures in its bid to lower credit card company “swipe fees”—which cost retailers an average of $2 for every $100 in sales, according to report earlier this month by the Merchants Payments Coalition.

Joe DePinto, CEO of 7-Eleven, Inc., will deliver 130 boxes of stacked sheets to the Capitol tomorrow by hand, because the use of forklifts is discouraged on the Capitol grounds.

“The 1.66 million signatures are the largest number of signatures collected for a public policy issue on record, beating a healthcare reform petition submitted to Congress earlier this year with 1.3 million signatures,” a spokesman for the company said.

    This is awesome.
The Makeout Hobo is real, and does indeed travel around the country in his van and make out with ladies... If you meet the Makeout Hobo, it is customary to greet him with a shot of whiskey and a high five (if you are a dude) or passionate makeouts (if you are a lady).

Credit and debit cards make it easier for retailers to sell stuff. They knew what the fees were when they installed the machines. This is just grandstanding IMO. If they don't like it, they can go "cash only." See how much beer & microwave burritos they sell that way.

No way, they move in collusion. If Visa goes up, so does MC. There's a big fat scam going on.

I have mixed feelings about these charges. On the one hand I believe in capitalism, and on the other hand bank cards save financial institutions money by not having to process checks by hand.

Another industry to keep the government out of. If the stores don't like the fees, why not issue their own cards. Problem solved, case closed.
