A key senior figure in a Bush administration covert Pentagon program, which used retired military analysts to produce positive wartime news coverage, remains in his same position today as a chief Obama Defense Department spokesman and the agency’s head of all media operations.

While Bush was in office, I heard a LOT from the left about how Bush employed people to divulge fake news. Now that Obama is employing the same people, where is the outrage?

Discussion?

I don't know what to make of this. It's a long article, and lots of documentation that the guy was involved, but I would imagine a bunch of career officials were involved, carrying out policies ordered by political appointees.

Is this guy responsible for the previous program? Is he doing propaganda now? Does the Pentagon have a way to get him out, do they want to get him out?

Sounds like he should be gone to me. I think Obama has been terrible in keeping his vows about open government and civil liberties.

Maybe you yourself can show how consistent you were by giving us a post about how you agreed with Bush's critics that this military analyst scam was wrong?

The question is whether the program is still active. I don't see that answered in the article.

I already did, when Bush was in office. Bush is not in office now. Obama is.

And for the record, ask anybody here, and they will tell you that I was just about the biggest Bush basher in this forum when he was in office. However, I am not a partisan hack. If I didn't think something was OK under Bush, there is no way I will ever give Obama any slack for doing the same. What is right is right, and what is wrong is wrong, and it does not depend on the letter next to the name of the president or anybody else. I will leave that kind of discussion to the partisan hacks here.
