Another song by school children praising Obama

[ame=http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=e18_1255397607]LiveLeak.com - Protesters Demonstrate Outside NJ School Known for Obama Anthem[/ame]

"Politics need to be out of our classrooms"

The schools system is organized and funded by the government - and part of schooling is actually history and *gasp* politics and even *gasp* laws and rules! Both state and federal.
It's impossible to keep politics OUT of the education system - and, this particular song, I see nothing wrong with it.

I don't support Obama ... but did anyone actually consider the meaning of the lyrics?

Here - the students are learning facts about our current president ... he's #44 and the first black president.
Gee - consider the fact that most people hold it against the US that we are history-ignorant I think this is a good thing for the students to know.

Some *parts* of such songs might be questionable - but the overall meaning is what the children will remember. The overall meaning of this song is to stay in school and be smart.
I don't have a problem with that at all.
I see the parts that people have issues with - but that's not the dominate purpose for this particular song.

Funny - it's acceptable to sing praises to a flag, to land and even to sing about poor pluto - but it's unacceptable to sing about a president?

Maybe I just care, overall, about my children being well educated and informed and I feel that, even in their youth, they shouldn't be 'kept' from politics as if it's some sort of dirty secret.

My parents kept me from politics (all things political) but smothered me with religion - and, as a result, I grew up with a very skewed lack of reality and the things that truly matter. Maybe it's just me, but I don't want my kids to be so "protected" that they grow up with the wool tightly wrapped over their eyes.

I know what's wrong with the deification of a sitting POTUS by schoolchildren? I don't see why anyone would be opposed to indoctrination into a cult of personality. Seig Heil!

I understand the contention with that, though :2razz:
Finding problem with *part* doesn't condemn the whole.

The song would be fine if they took that part out ... or simply make an entire song dedicated to all presidents.

None of these songs even mention the fact that Obama is the first black POTUS, so the "black history month" excuses for the overt political indoctrination of school children = epic fail.

Everytime I see "POTUS" I think "SCOTUS" and it reminds me I should be studying instead of yammering on the net.

I totally agree. The only problem is that this goes on legally in private religious schools across the US and no one ****s themselves over that. So in comparison, as pathetic as this Obama worship is, it just doesn't look that bad.

Bbecause they're private religious schools - they're not public-domain and, thus, not privy to certain issues that pertain to *public.*

To this point, now I'm seeing some of these opposition points in a different perspective.

Anti-religion bigotry is rearing it's head.

I guess the fact that they are "PRIVATE" and people choose to send their kids to the school (or not) makes any difference with you? :doh
