Glenn Beck's Day of Fasting and Prayer

It is not me who has on Partisian blinders.

Yeah, keep repeating that to yourself over and over. Pretty soon, maybe even you will believe it because no one else will.

I don't have to keep repeating anything...the person I voted for won fair and square and I'm sure that he is doing all he can to repair the selfserving screwups of the Republican party. Your side is the side that has to keep repeating the partisian mantras. For the sake of the country? I think not.

The one thing that bothers me the most about people like Beck,Limbaugh,Cheney and Palin and many other Republicans is the they are incapable of admitting any fault or failure in reguards to anything what so ever. They constantly blame everybody else for their shortcomings.
It is lame.

Tell me again... who's the partisan hack??

Do you mean like when Obama and his minions blame their failures on Bush??

I think the only person that scares the Libbos more than Glenn Beck, is Sarah Palin.

You're right. Palin terrifies me. Not because I think she has any realistic chance of being elected president. The thought that terrifies me is if she did become president. The lady reminds me of nothing more than Bush in Tina Fey glasses.

Was the economy not in meltdown before Obama took office? Did McCain not suspend his campaign because the economy was in meltdown under the Bush/Cheney adminstration?

To ignore this reality and Blame it all on President Obama makes one a politcal hack does it not?

You might have a point if I had blamed it all on Obama.

But I didn't did I?

So Beck has given President Obama credit for something? What for example?

I'm not an expert on Beck. But I suspect he has said that there are a few things the president has done right.

I catch his show now and then, and even in that short amount of time, I've heard him say that the time has come to stop the frivilous spending by both the dems and the repubs.

Beck is a hypocrite. Why did he keep his crying loudmouth shut during the entire time of Bush and Cheney's frivilous spending? Bush spent and wasted money in a way that got our country in trouble. Obama is spending money to get our country out of trouble..see the difference?

You listened to his radio show for the past year??

Somehow I doubt it.

And no, I don't see the difference and I doubt any fair-minded person would.

Are his views and opinions not plastered all over the internet? I have not listened to his show once yet somehow I know the pinhead blowhard is making money off of pitting Americans against each other. Just like Rush. Just like the quitter Ex-Gov Palin.

Gotcha. Just as I suspected. You've never listened to his show, so you have no idea if he criticized Bush for spending too much. I rarely listen to him, but I have enough to hear him go off on Bush's spending several times.

Maybe you should actually listen to a show before criticizing it based on some lefty web site that likely took what he said out of context.

I guess you consider Obama a quitter too since he quit his Senate seat??

No "Gotcha" sorry. You can watch any news outlet besides PBS and you will see clips of Becks shows can you not? Post one quote where Beck is critical of Bush and Cheney's economic policies? One after Obama took office would be interesting to see..if it exists?

If Palin would have quit to become VP then I wouldn't have a agrument would I?

Like I said, if you don't listen to him, you don't get the full context. But, your request was way too easy. Actually you get a twofer, Beck and Rush:

If the Republican Party has any chance of regaining its leading position, it must put to "death" George W. Bush's "compassionate conservatism," says top talker Glenn Beck.

Beck, a rising ratings star at Fox News and one the nation's leading talk hosts, has earned his popularity taking on some of the most cherished shibboleths of the Republican establishment.

During a Fox News interview with top radio talker Rush Limbaugh this past Thursday, Beck used the occasion to slam Bush's policies as inherently detrimental to core Republican principles.

Beck asked Limbaugh: "Rush, will you — help me out on this, because you always get thrown under the bus, that — well, you know, where were you when George Bush was spending, et cetera, et cetera. Address — because I — I have to tell you, the Republican Party doesn't get it. You just said, echoed again what I was saying about the progressive Republicans. George Bush, this compassionate conservative movement has got to die a violent death."

Limbaugh agreed with Beck's assessment that Bush had gone off the GOP reservation.

Limbaugh responded: "Yes, Glenn, let me tell you something. I don't — personally, I don't mind people asking me that question, 'Where were you with all the spending?' I remember — I don't want to mention any names — I was getting phone calls from people in the White House angry because I was opposed to every attempt they made to amnesty. I was opposed to the Medicare expansion. . . And they have found a way and called me mad as he can be. 'What do you mean this is good — good in the private sector?' I said, 'No, it's an entitlement and Republicans don't do that.' . . . but the elected Republicans — here's the problem with it — when you're a Republican and your president is a Republican, you have to go along with it. If you break from him, then you got party disunity and so forth."

President George W. Bush was the largest social spender in history, according to a recent report by the Mercatus Center at George Mason University. In his first term Bush increased discretionary spending 19 percent. During Bush's second term federal spending increased 49 percent.

The Mercatus Center said Bush's spending made President Bill Clinton's administration look conservative.

The Center noted: "Adjusted for inflation, in eight years, President Clinton increased the federal budget by 11 percent. In eight years, President Bush increased it by a whopping 104 percent."

Beck suggested the stakes are high unless the GOP gets back to its roots.

He told Limbaugh: "And I'll tell you, they keep making the argument that if you vote for a conservative — oh, well, we're going to round up, you know, all of the unwed mothers and throw them in furnaces or whatever it is. That's not what this movement is about, at all. You're right on the social aspect. What this movement is about is they are destroying our children's future. Look, I don't care what you do in your own bedroom. You — we won't have a bedroom left anymore. We're all going to be living in Hooverville or Obamaville if we don't stop the spending."

and...

Midterm, George H. W. Bush not only had the amount go up from 1,013, he actually passed Jimmy Carter. Jimmy Carter had 1,123. George H. W. Bush had 1,176 ways he could spend your money. Government subsidy programs. After that the government really stopped trying to act like they even cared about it. You know, Bill Clinton increased the amount of giveaway programs by 21% in eight years. Then George W. Bush came in, you know, that hate monger that all hate mongers love because he wanted to starve children to death. You know, everybody anybody who was at a tea party loved George W. Bush because he wasn't out of control with his spending. George W. Bush came in with his compassionate conservativism and added 27% more programs on top of Clinton's 21% of increases. The result? We now have 1,804 federal subsidy programs. That is 78% increase in the last 23 years. The report says we are in the midst of the largest federal gold rush since the 1960s. Unfortunately in the 1960s we actually had gold. Can you believe these crazy nut jobs who are saying that we're on the march to socialism and gigantic oppressive g overnment? It's crazy!

and...

Ironically, in economic policy, the “change” the Obama Administration will bring to Washington could be called “Bush Plus” – that is, all President Bush’s spending combined with a tax increase. Amazingly, the last year of the Bush administration was the most liberal in economic policy since the New Deal, with over $1 trillion in “emergency “spending on top of a $3 trillion-plus federal budget. Far from being “change you can believe in” (to quote the Obama campaign) what we are going to get is more of the same, with tax increases.

Let me know if you want some more examples......

If Palin would have quit to become VP then I wouldn't have a agrument would I?

You didn't have an argument to begin with.

Thanks for the quotes..one thing i notice reading those is that neither Beck nor Rush, who both supported Bush and his policies, even though they are crying "Stop the spending" is that neither bother to offer up any ideas to repair the damage done that doesn't involve spending money? Maybe they do say "Screw the poor" "Screw the uninsured" don't let the Bush Tax cuts for the Rich expire, but really is that a "Real" and stable way of thinking? Especially after sitting there and supporting the very acts that got us there in the first place? They make no sense..one day they say one thing the next day they will claim the opposite.

I've yet to hear anything from either of them in reguards to fixing the problems without spending money. It wouldn't suprise me if they called themselves Libertarians now like many the conservatives on this board now do.

Palin did quit to make money off pitting Americans against each other. I can't believe the Republicans even claim her anymore.

Notice how "scare", "scares", "scared", by a great many people refers to the notion that being afraid of someone means something to the effect of "they are afraid that their incorrect or corrupt ways will be overturned by one particular person of virtue" rather than "they are afraid that the person who tries to gain power will be ruinous to the republic".

Poor Glenn Beck....his pathetic 9/12 Project turned out to be a bit of wash, what with only a few measly thousand sad-sack losers descending on DC for the huge gala demonstration. Yep.....they surround us alright.

Well this time ol' Glenn is coming to the party locked an' loaded! His next stunt appears to be a day of fasting and prayer:

"Sept 28. Lets make it a day of Fast and Prayer for the Republic. Spread the word.Let us walk in the founders steps."

Twitter / Glenn Beck: Sept 28. Lets make it a da ...

And it's conveniently on Yom Kippur, a traditional Jewish holiday of fasting and prayer.

High Holy Days on the Net (Rosh Hashanah & Yom Kippur) - Welcome to a celebration of the Jewish High Holy Days, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, traditons, history, recipes

Damn....I can see the headlines now:

"Tens of Millions turn out for Glenn Beck's Day of Fasting and Prayer"

Genius!

:mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen:

Well, I suppose I should congratulate Beck in trying to attach his name to an ancient holiday and actually succeed.

Can you prove he kept his mouth shut? Like I said, I'm not a regular listener, but I do remember hearing him speak against the stimulous last September. I'm pretty sure Bush was still president then.

Did Bush not sign the stimulus into law last year? Wasn't EVERY Republican including McCain and Palin and Beck and Limbaugh all distancing themselves from Bush and Cheney at that point in time? They knew then the game was lost.

I find the left's recently found hatred of Glenn Beck strange and amusing.

Beck was a nobody when he was on CNN. I watched him sometimes because he seemed honest and sincere, which he is, and he spoke about some issues I was interested in. When nobody was paying attention to him he was saying the same stuff he says now:

The government is too big. Politicians are corrupt. Here's the stories the media isn't covering that they should be.

And he was saying all of this while Bush was in the White House, but now that Beck is on Fox and attacking their Messiah (for the same reasons he attacked Bush) he's suddenly become part of the right wing propaganda machine. Funny how that works...

Beck's eccentric but he's not a bad guy. He honestly cares about this country and is worried about the direction our government is taking us in. The liberal hatred of him is just typical really. Their media overlords have labeled Beck (right-wing Christian zealot!!!) and ordered their little O-bot minions to attack him at every opportunity. This thread is a great example of that...
