I'm sure there are some who dislike Obama because he is Black or non white but how can we be sure when criticism of the President is racism when it may be legitimate. Are Africans now only allowed to criticise Obama to escape the 'racist' tag? Where is the line between racially motivated criticism and valid ones?
The reason the Dems are screaming racism at every turn, is because it's all they have left. They know their short reign is over, almost before it even began. The country's first crack at Liberalism failed in less than a year. They're desperate. They'll say anything, at this point. The sad part, is that they can't realize that the more they cry racism, the deeper they dig their own graves.

I think you assume if Bush came out tomorrow and said something just as incredible, the GOP would publicly scorn it right away.

There's a philosophy in rabid partisan politics in this culture....don't eat your own (yet).

I'm saying that anyone running for office for the GOP has avoided Dubya like the plague. He's persona non grata in the GOP.

Re: Jimmy "Smeagol" Carter: opposition to Obama is racist

Racism is still a pretty strong, if sublimated, current in American culture. I don't see Carter arguing that any criticism of Obama's policies is racist either. He says an "overwhelming portion" is motivated at least partially out of racist sentiment.

Hyper partisan strawmans for the win though.

"overwhelming portion" is a vast overstatement.

The biggest voice I hear crying racism this and that has come from the right.

    Myself from another thread --

And libertarians have been right about it as well, they just have so many other things to brag about.)

Since being right feels good, socialists are always trying to recapture that high, like hopeless crack addicts, but they just haven't been right about anything else, ever. So they keep bring up racism into the conversation entirely out of context (ex. "How's the weather today? RACISM!"), just to remind themselves that they were right about something, once.

And this statement is based upon what, exactly? Any evidence would be appreciated.

Question for the group: "If Jimmy carter got Alzheimer's, how could we tell? "
I think at this particular time we need to heed Carter's words and shy away from all of this dissent ACORN, Van Jones, Health Care and really ask ourselves if racism is in each of our lives and what we can do to eliminate it? AND more importantly how we can help this administration so that we can project to the world that anyone can succeed in this great country. So again let's hold off on these other mickey mouse issues that will resolve themselves over time and embrace Carter's wisdom to help educate us all on what is really hurting this administration because if we can eliminate racism we can all unite and have health care reform. What do we want? HEALTH CARE! When do we want it? NOW!
