B.C. toddler lost in Yukon gets to keep dog he followed

Ok, so it's not really political news, but maybe it addresses some things that are more important.
B.C. toddler lost in Yukon gets to keep dog he followed

A two-year-old boy lost in the Yukon bush overnight after wandering away from his family's campsite will get to keep the dog he followed.

The toddler, identified only as Kale, wandered away from a campsite north of Ross River, Yukon, on Thursday.

The boy, from Kamloops, B.C., apparently trailed after a dog, which stayed with him throughout his 25-hour adventure.

*sniff* this is the sweetest story ..... and the family that gave the dog to the little boy, those are some seriously great kids. Yea, I'd imagine they would be upset to give their dog away, but they did it anyway. Wow ...

Man, stuff like this makes my eyes moisten a bit. Talk about an amazing story.

Collectively, animals are better to us than we ever deserve.
I do wish people would stop mistreating them. And eating them.

How about if we compromise. Let's quit mistreating them, but still eat them.

That would be better than nothing, I suppose.

I can't believe they gave their dog away. I'd never give my dog away. Poor dog goes and does something good and rather than a reward for his efforts, say a steak dinner or something, his owners up and give him away to folks who already have too much on their plate. If you can't keep tabs on your toddler I imagine a dog is just about the last thing you need.

It's strange that the dog didn't lead the child to his (the dog's) family.
Were they at the campsite too, or nearby?
    Was the dog lost, too?

Probably the dog just hung with the kid. Didn't want to leave the toddler on its own. The dog probably had no way of literally leading the kid anywhere. I had this dog Milla that would not leave my son's side when he was an infant, toddler, and kid. Everywhere he toddled the dog was with him. If Liam left the room the dog left the room.

A cat would have handled this differently.
Mostly a cat would surmise that if the kid is out here in the woods, then his food must be unattended back in camp. If the kid were quick, he then could follow the cat back to his family.
