BP Makes ‘Giant’ Oil Discovery in Gulf of Mexico

I thought the treehuggers told us there was no more oil in the Gulf. Guess they were wrong, again.

Sept. 2 (Bloomberg) -- BP Plc, Europe’s second-largest oil company, reported a “giant” discovery at the Tiber Prospect in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico that may contain more than 3 billion barrels, after drilling the world’s deepest exploration well.

Yeah, 35,000 feet. So what? Most of he wells that are drilled that far out into the GOM are in the depth neighborhood.

As far as I can tell, the world record is a little over 39,000 feet.

It will take at least 10 years to get a single drop out ... at least.

Again, so what? Doing nothing isn't going to produce that pool, nor is doing nothing going to create jobs. There will be oil flowing out of that resevoir before green energy come close to maturity.

And the debate is whether or not "tree-huggers" provide assessments of petro deposits that are as accurate as exploration?
    I may be wrong.

And using billions on this oil instead of alternative energy.... which you think is better for the future?

Doing both would be better for the future.

People don't want future jobs. They want jobs, now. What positive effect will sky unemployment have on the future. If no one has any money, there won't be any green energy research taking place, therefore, green energy technologies will never reach maturity.

    That's exactly right.

    OMG!!! We're saved!

    From your article:

    1) It could raise BP's production levels by 1%!!!!..... Holy sht! That's alot!

And 3 Billion barrels is like 37 days of World consumption!

But it will take the 30 years for the field to play out.....bummer.

So literally it's a drop in the bucket.
