A new study by Gallup shows that large swaths of populations in the South and West -- anywhere from one-in-five to one-in-four individuals -- are currently lacking health insurance coverage.

These same regions also have the largest percentage of populations who believe widely perpetuated mistruths about the Obama agenda, including allegations that the president will set up "death panels" and wants a complete government takeover of the health care system.

And before you come yelling at me for siting an article using one poll, these poll results back up others on the same topic.

You help them out and give them the medicine. Hence, I am pro-single payer. Public Option is a good compromise I guess, but it's not enough. It will work though given other countries' record.

Sure, the government won't set up death panels, but they will end up deciding who gets treated and who doesn't, which will be life or death for some people. Government takeover of the health care industry is also not completely out of the question, even if it doesn't happen immediately.

So basically, what you are saying is that you are choosing to be uninsured, thus if you need serious medical attention, you will go to an emergency room, rack tens of thousands of dollars in medical bills (or more), and the costs will be passed on to the rest of us.

I don't know much about medicare, but from what I've heard it's a supplement to private insurance and not a replacement. I've also heard that it greatly complicates the insurance market and is hopelessly inefficient when compared to private insurance. This is all coming secondhand though, I really don't know much about it.

Medicare is a complete insurance plan. It covers ten of Millions of Americans.

Medicaid is a supplement plan.
