    Congressman Green Shows Hypocrisy

Here's Democratic congressweasal Gene Green's voting record on showing photo ID when voting...

Now here is the very same congressweasal today on his own house of reps website...

Town hall meetings are one of my favorite ways to communicate with constituents. I have held hundreds during my years of service in Congress and always welcomed everyone to attend. Unfortunately, due to a coordinated effort to disrupt our town hall meetings, we will be restricting further attendance to residents of the 29th Congressional District and verifying residency by requiring photo identification. Whether individuals agree or disagree, we must maintain order to have a civil discussion of the issues. While I regret this restriction, it is necessary for the safety and consideration of our constituents. Those who do not reside in the 29th Congressional should contact their Member of Congress to voice any concerns that they may have on issues before Congress. Neither side in an argument can find the truth when both make an absolute claim on it.

I for one, am not amazed at all.
Climate, changes. It takes a particularly uneducated population to buy into the idea that it's their fault climate is changing and further political solutions can fix it.

I am not going to suggest what he is doing is right, but if you cannot see the difference between voting, and attending a meeting, you have major troubles. It is not hypocrisy to expect different things under different situations.

Edit: by the way, please read the breaking news rules.

I need to look back and see who said it...I fear it was WillRockwell whose suspsended...but someone was trying to say that Town Hall Meetings were FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS of the Democrat Process. As such, I'd love to see what they think of this.

Actually, question in general to all those people who have stated that those "shouting down" people at Town Halls are interfering with the "Democratic Process". Is this TOO interfering with it?

Yeah, but we also have people saying the democrats(or republicans, depends on who is saying it) are like the nazi's. Who care what idiots think? Town halls are not a right, voting is. They should have different standards.

Oh I agree. I don't think personally its a direct correlation. I do find it slightly ironically humerous though that the guy doesn't want voters denied to voting booths if they can't prove to be residents of the district but he wants them to be denied the abiilty to get information needed for an informed vote.

Is it exactly the same? Not really, but its a bit interesting and ironic none the less. I wouldn't say hypocritical, but I would say both are likely very politically motivated.

In regards to wanting to hear from those on the forum who have been saying that somehow town halls are a Right or an intigral part of the electoral process...they're different than crazy fringe people at a rally because they'r here, interacting with us, etc and thus if they're talking about it in one thread I'd like to hear their view on this to see if they're consistant.

Wait...so you don't need to show ID for voting but to attend a meeting you do?
What makes it necessary to show an ID at these meetings that does not exist when voting? What "difference" in the meetings would require an ID?
