    President Obama’s “Senior” Moment?

Rachel Martin and Jake Tapper report:

President Obama today suggested that the health care reform legislation for which he’s pushing has been endorsed by the American Association of Retired Person.

“We have the AARP on board because they know this is a good deal for our seniors,” the president said.

At another point he said: “Well, first of all, another myth that we've been hearing about is this notion that somehow we're going to be cutting your Medicare benefits. We are not. AARP would not be endorsing a bill if it was undermining Medicare, okay?”

    The problem?

The AARP hasn't endorsed any plan yet.

The country's largest advocacy group for Americans over 50 issued a statement after the event saying, "While the President was correct that AARP will not endorse a health care reform bill that would reduce Medicare benefits, indications that we have endorsed any of the major health care reform bills currently under consideration in Congress are inaccurate."
President Obama?s ?Senior? Moment? - Political Punch

    Good for the AARP.
Climate, changes. It takes a particularly uneducated population to buy into the idea that it's their fault climate is changing and further political solutions can fix it.

He is either very dense like bush or he is a flat-out liar, no surprise there.
He's thinks Americans are stupid, and take everything he says as the gospel truth, like the ones who voted him in.

    Re: President Obama’s “Senior” Moment?

according to fox, aarp elaborated, saying it CAN'T endorse a plan because THERE ISN'T ONE

    which is kinda the point

obama's failure to make ONE BILL so he and his can sell it, defend it

instead, all this committee crap is ALL OVER THE PLACE

so anyone can ATTACK it on 100 different fronts

supreme political stupidity---that's always the point

this guy is one profoundly INEPT pol

aarp says it backs health care reform broadly, in the main

it leaves the impression it kinda craves A PLAN

    y'know, from the EXECUTIVE

A PLAN, for aarp either to push or oppose

aarp, by the way, is about as powerful an entity as exists in this country

30 years ago, it was probably aipac

but the last several decades---you mess with seniors, you lose

    nra is another

    but aarp---don't trust em, folks

leadership sells out membership for pc purposes all the time

we saw it 2 weeks ago in dallas, when they unplugged their microphone and went home

the "listening" meeting was getting too many comments for comfort

drudge carried the youtube, you probably saw

    it was very funny

aarp is facing the same kinda pitchfork protest all the town halls are seeing

this is a very, very broad based movement we all are witnessing

it is extremely real, extremely wide, and very, very deep, as well

    good thread, thanks

My guess is that this was actually a miscommunication. Someone from AARP, or one of the President's advisors, probably told Obama that AARP had endorsed his Health Care plan.

The evidence is strong for "both".

With all due respect... I like it just the way it is, he's destroying the Democratic party... with the help of Pelosi, Reid, Franks, Waxman, et al.

    Keep up the good work.
